You need to be healthy to be bought out and he's been bought out.

Why has no one signed him, who's interested, what's he worth, can he still play?

Since he's been bought out, it's been crickets.

The Leafs were linked to him but I'm not sure if they're still looking for dmen at this point or not.

Seems like a textbook case for a PTO.

He might be healthy enough to be bought out, but after he missed basically an entire season teams are going to have questions about what state he'd be coming back in. Especially since he's not exactly young anymore.

Feel like he'll be a good fit somewhere, though.

Wisniewski, unfortunately, has played himself out of the league. Most teams would rather use that money on a prospect, than dealing with inconsistent professionals who no longer have an upside.

I loved Wisniewski's game before he signed that big contract with Columbus. Watching him fall off so sharply, was hard to watch.

I think teams will be lining up to give him a PTO, I'd be surprised if he already doesn't have offers for that. Maybe he has a couple league min 1-year offers too, but feels he can perform well beyond that and would rather take the PTO route to prove it.

I could see the Leafs valuing a few of the vets like Russell, Wiz and Quincey. Waiving Frankie Corrado in order to gain the roster room.

I think the Leafs could be one of the teams waiting to clear money for Russell. They are still waiting on the Cowen situation to resolve itself. I think he'll sign a Franson-like contract at 3.35M per for 2 years. If they miss on him, that domino drops and they could move on to Wiz or Quincey on cheap 1 year deals.

he seems like someone my bruins should gamble on. k miller and macquaid have no offensive upside and colin miller hasnt proven hes a fulltime nhl dman yet.

some competition for these 3 guys would be a pretty good idea

on left shot we are set with chara krug liles... morrow is the current 7th dman

honestly i dont feel the team is high on morrow... so sign wisniewsky... let morrow and colin miller earn their roster spots. its only money and the b's have cap space

Edmonton makes a lot of sense.

They desperately need a RH PP QB, and with Larsson and Fayne on the right side they can insulate him a bit. In turn Wisniewski would get to pad his stats on the top unit PP playing with McDavid.

Klefbom-Larsson
Sekera-Fayne
Davidson-Wisniewski

If he does well, a top 4 spot next to Sekera wouldn't be out of the question.

Though I could see the team wanting to give Larsson a shot at the PP first. (gotta justify the trade)

I asked because I thought he'd be a good signing for the Rangers. Maybe he helps their PP with a cannon from the right side. Then again Klein brings that and AV seems disinclined to use him there.

Taking russell over corrado would be terrible.

They filled the veteran quota with polak.

I don't think you can rely on Wiz being a good PP QB for a whole year at this point. I'm sure Wiz would be an absolute last resort type of thing for Edmonton.

Russell would be a significant upgrade over Corrado. Frankie is a bubble guy. If they don't sign one of the mentioned names I'm sure they'd have no issue going into the season with him and continuing his development with the Leafs.

But, those 3 vets would help the Leafs be better than they would be with Corrado in the short term. Cheap 1 year deals on Quincey or Wiz could be sold for top dollar at the deadline. Russell on a 2 year deal is a Bozak-like veteran that could be shopped or kept for another year.

I think the likely scenario if they were to get one is Frankie starts the year as the #9 and goes unclaimed on waivers, he is used as the vet top pairing RHD on the Marlies for half the season, as Justin Holl is the only other RHD on the team. The other half the year he sits in the pressbox in the NHL as the first callup on D, as the rest of the Marlies D have some developing to do. Get's in about 10-15 games through injuries and what not. Then, takes over as the #6-#7 to close out the season, after Hunwick and Polak and potentially the other signed defender start being moved out for futures.

A guy like Dick Panik was claimed and had a fairly decent season in Toronto, a better one than Corrado. He cleared waivers to start the next season and was quickly moved out. If the Leafs make any more moves that involve adding to their skaters at the NHL level, Corrado is on the hot seat.

He is injury prone and teams will not offer him what he wants. He will take a 1 year deal to earn a bigger one

Markov had a similar injury and *eventually* recovered like 18 months out. Seidenberg never recovered. Screams PTO once teams have an idea of how their youth looks heading into camp.

I like the Oilers to sign him for 950 K or less . Oilers don't care about the money it is cap space they worry about and at 950k if he doesn't play up to NHL standers send him to the AHL and it doesn't count against the cap .

A win for the Oilers . Get a shot at a PM RD PQ with no risk . Even in the AHL he can mentor the young D

One of the most frustrating things for me last year (and in previous years too) was seeing Justin Schultz continuously put out on the power play and look bad out there. I wanted Edmonton to at lest give their other defensemen a shot (pun intended) rather than him.

I don't know much about Wisniewski, but hearing people describe him as a defensive liability, injury prone....puck moving defenseman doesn't fill me with confidence that he should be even signed as a #6 and given power play time over the other existing D.

(Though as I said, I don't know much about Wisniewski, so maybe comparing him to Stanley Cup champion Justin Schultz isn't a fair comparison :D ).
