Good vet for the Jackets and he’ll get them another pick come deadline, don’t see a downside, good signing.

How is he as a person? Good add to the locker room?
JVR is a good person off the ice and donated to charitable organizations throughout his time in Philly, James is also very well educated as he still take’s college courses in his down time and lived in the society hill section of Philadelphia when he played with the Flyers but spend the offseason in Minnesota at his home.

As far as the player JVR, he is just about cooked and is a defensive liability as the wheels aren’t what they used to be. Boston had JVR playing on the 4th line as a 3 wheels during the latter part of last season.

JVR might be alright until American Thanksgiving or Christmas but after that I’d expect to see a fading JVR as long as his minutes are limited to the bottom 6 wing or PP2 wing.

Sounds like a guy who could use some load management. Don’t know why the NHL is so stubborn about that.

Load management sucks, not good for fans who pay top dollar to see their favourite players. NBA doesn't like it either but what can you do.

JVR isn't even relevant enough for load management . If he can't keep up they should let him go lol

Why does every player need to play 82 games?

Guy starts the year strong then declines as the season goes on… it sure sounds like they are hurt and/or tired.

He was signed primarily to provide veteran leadership and to get closer to the cap floor. Any on-ice production is a bonus.

Not a bad pickup. Far from the JVR of old but even in limited duty with Boston last year he did alright.

Park his ass in front of the net on the PP and see if those soft hands still have some touch to em.

You have no idea how correct you are with that last paragraph....

Well I think that's why he is getting 900k.
