The Habs need a left winger with size that can score. If the Preds continue to struggle and don't make the playoffs, what would the asking price be for Neal?

I have no idea what to offer, so just wanting to know what the potential cost would be.

Habs potential lines:

Neal - Galchenyuk - Radulov
Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gallagher
Lehkonen - Desharnais - Shaw
Danault - Mitchell - Byron

Emelin - Weber
Markov - Petry
Beaulieu - Pateryn

Price
Montoya

Nashville is or is almost in a win now mode.
Habs only have picks and prospects to offer. Any player on the roster would create a hole.

No trade between Nashville and Montreal.

I think Colorado would be a good trade partner.

Someone to replace him? Max Pac would be neat if we had a reason to trade Neal.

Montreal is top-5 in the NHL at even strength so far in goals for, 6th in shots for and currently have both Radulov and Pacioretty playing LW. They don't "need" a left winger with size that can score. They "need" a D that can transition out of the defensive zone.

If the Preds continue to struggle and miss the playoffs (despite being a whole 2 points off the wild card right now), they'll keep James Neal and add a young offensive talent to the mix in the draft. There's no motivation to trade him barring an offer that's too good to pass up.

Is this a serious thread or just more Habs fans poking fun at the Preds expense for a slow start?

I think the OP is serious, but I don't see what the Habs can offer. Plus, we have Radulov on the LW for now.

We could use a top 4 D and a top 6 C (to replace DD) much more than a top 6 LW.

There've been a lot of threads started by Habs fans trying to poach core players from other teams for "depth" of late. Most of those threads have been nasty, brutish, and short, and it's an open debate as to whether the targeted team's fans or other less insane Habs fans find them more annoying. :)

How Hobbesian of you :P

The answer to the OP is there is no reasonable scenario in which the Habs will obtain James Neal this season.
