His father played for Brynas team too, for 11 seasons. I always have respect for the Swedish players who don't lose sight of where they come from. Seems to happen fairly often, where these guys who've earned millions, go back to their home towns.

He's from a small city of just under 100k. Markstrom, Lindholm, Backstrom, and Janrkrok are all from the same small city.

He's a hero to fans of Brynäs too because of his role in the 2012 Swedish Championship playoffs. He'll be welcomed home with open arms, even if he obviously isn't the same player.

You won't find many Ducks fans who are surprised by this. IQ is still there but his body can't keep up after all the injuries

He could probably stand at center in running shoes and create a couple more turnovers per game than some guys, but yeah physically he's just not able to do it at the same level anymore. There was some bounce back once he got a couple years removed from his operation but never fully got his jumps back.

He was when he was 18-22 years then he changed his style.

I was always impressed with his game-sense and he always showed up well in the playoffs, but this is another guy that the wheels came off physically a lot earlier than it did for most players. Unfortunately for him and the Ducks, by the time they were entering their rebuild, his value (coupled with a bloated contract) made it impossible for him to be traded to a contender and get a few more kicks at the can in the post-season.

Just to add to that.

His career regular season PPG is 0.46, the same as his career PPG in anaheim

His overall career playoff PPG is 0.66, and his career PPG with Anaheim it's 0.71.

Most players have a noticeably lower PPG in the playoffs. Pretty impressive how much better his production was in the postseason.
