I wonder if Jake Muzzin-Adam Larsson could make sense as a pairing.
Larsson would be a real nice pickup. I was hoping we’d be in on him this past off-season but with him signing a long term deal with Seattle I’m not sure if he’ll want to leave so soon.

That game against St Louis was an absolute shit-show by the referees.

Everyone in the hockey circles seems to love Wes McAuley for his enthusiastic 5 minutes for fighting calls, but as a referee he sucks just as bad as the rest of them and he's even more of a game management referee than most if you ask me.

The fact that our guys are getting their heads run into the boards (Muzz) and tackled (Liljegren) and there's no call is a joke.

WWE referees are less of a joke than NHL referees.

Don’t forget Bunting getting 2 minutes for being assaulted and mounted.

He needs a legitimate, physical partner to share some of the load. Holl seems to be out of sorts, his confidence possibly bruised a bit it seems.

Get a #4 and move Holl with Dermott and/or Sandin and he will regain his confidence in sheltered minutes.

I prefer Dermott myself for this years playoff, Sandins upside will be realized in time no doubt, but a solid, deep defense core is vital post season, you can't leave anything to chance, the division is too strong.

He's done.

Smacked his head on the ice tonight. Already trying to heal from a concussion.

Time to put him on LTIR and go for Chychrun with the extra capspace.

We can even pair him up with his partner that we just picked up.

Im starting to think it might be best for both sides if Muzzin LTIRs the rest of his contract. Another brutal injury for him and he has straight up not been good.

I wouldn’t blame him if he felt it wasn’t worth another injury.

Reactions: Teeder Keon
If a guy playing a rugged defensive role is starting to run into concussion issues and is in a position to receive more head trauma, this might unfortunately be that LTIR Robidas Island moment. Does this guy want to come back in the medium term to be put in these situations? Do the Leafs trust him? Is he another hit away from declining quality of life. I think they shut down Joffrey Lupul for less than this.

No Muzzin means no chance in the first round. Prepare for a quick bounce.

This shallacking of the Habs and horrible injury to Muzzin reminded me of the comment I made long ago that I fear that this team reminds me of the Oilers just before the McDavid era where they had so many high draft picks, had flash and talent and no grit. They never had a sniff of playoff success that they had when they made the Cup Finals with Pronger (what a playoff he had) and Peca in 2005.

It would help if we could get a ******* penalty called

On one goal Liljegren was tackled like they were playing rugby, life won't be easy if you're going to let that go
Welcome to playoff style hockey. It's not going to be fair and the Leafs will vanish. All it takes is one bad slip and a coach with paralysis.

LTIR him, get another legit top 4, bring him back for Game 1.

All the money is on their top stars who don't show up when the going gets tough. Championship teams build from the back out. The tough part is getting finishers, however, they usually come last. Leafs lucked out in the draft but over extended themselves in the cap.

As I stated at the time, these young players won't miss a million a year each. They may regret handcuffing their own teams ability to build a tough, competitive team. No soft team ever wins a Cup in the NHL.

He's been our worst defenseman by far this year and we still have one of the best defenses in the league. I still am holding out hope he can turn things around, but after this concussion, I don't know if he can process the game properly anymore... And I think he is going to call it a career. There is no way he can survive 2 concussions in about a month at this point in his career.

Mark Giordano makes a lot of sense for us now. He can play 2nd pairing for this year. We can bring him back for cheap next year, and Muzzin's money opens up a lot of flexibility.

I just find it hard to believe he will try to make a comeback.

What's Muzzin's concussion history, how many has he had?

This is his 2nd concussion in a month, assuming he has one now (and I imagine he does).

He had one against STL on January 18th, another one against NJD on January 31st, and now again on February 21st.

EDIT: Correction. He missed a month with a concussion, and now less than 2 weeks after coming back, he is out with another one most likely.
