Jake Allen Conditional Pick Counter (Needs 40 GP in 2024-2025)

If they rely on Daws as the backup, it's doable.

If they get a rental backup, it's over.

If Markstrom is predicted to be back for the POs, they might stay pat. Or if he's 100% out they might throw the towel and just run Allen and pray.

Also, who is available as a rental? There really isn't much there that is both available and good.

Fleury or Lindgren maybe? Both are on PO teams that might not want to risk losing their backups.

The rest of UFA goalies are either starters or not great.

Another 2nd rounder is surely not needed but I imagine it's a nice asset for a trade up scenario for sure.

Let's hope the Devils prioritize this season and ride Jake to try and keep a playoff spot.

Can’t find the oringial thread so mods feel three to merge this post in thete

latest update is Markstrom was injured yesterday and will miss “some time”

We traded Jake Allen for a 3rd round pick and a condition that if he plays 40 games and the Devils make it in the playoffs, that 3rd becomes another 2nd

Jake has played 15 games and there are 32 games left so there is a chance he hits the 40 games mark and we get a 2nd rounder

Still seems unlikely Allen will play 25 of Jersey's remaining 32 games...

They have only 4 back to backs so if he establishes himself as the starter, there’s a chance he play 25 out of the 28 games not back to backs.

Not saying it’s super likely but the 3rd string will have to crap out

But from what I heard, it doesn't sound like Markstrom is out for the season.

I don'tt think they're trading Evans.

It seems our main trade chip now is Struble.
From the POV of the Devils, they were looking at Evans. If they want Struble instead, I have no issues with it. Although losing Evans for nothing does not look like a pro-move.

Yeah, I'm. It privy to the negotiations. But I think at the end of the season, if Evan's doesn't get 20 goals or 40 points, his salary demands won't be as high as they are. Ow. So I could see Highes waiting to sign him in the summer, given he's fresh off a heater he may not sustain. So Hugjes may not want to trade him before the deadline, just because he hasn't signed him.

Losing any player for nothing doesn't look like a pro move. We are in a situation where we must improve our assets not the other way around.

It depends, teams lose players for nothing if they couldn't get anything for them for instance. I just thought killing 2 birds with one stone might apply here and would definitely look like a shrewd or "pro" move. Get a first for Evans and settle the conditional pick we are owed by the Devils.

We might be able to do that without trading them Evans also. Just get a 2026 instead of a 2025. We already have 12 picks this off-season, kinda insane.
