1) Agent for Panarin and Bob has been in town last 2-3 days

2) Torts was nearly an hour between the end of the game and his presser, not sure how long it usually is after the game, but he was asked why it took him so long to speak after the game. He gave a vague answer, but did say he had "a number of things to do, to talk to" He quickly changed the subject then

Could mean absolutely nothing, but it's curious for sure.

Teams with UFA's are to the point where they also have to be concerned of an injury.....aka devastation

Click bait... this isn’t speculation nor is it a rumor.

As with most bubble teams, deals are “imminent” come trade deadline.

Interesting. I just randomly caught the local Detroit news sports segment on TV (haven’t seen it live in years) and they mentioned that Calgary was very interested in trading for Howard.

Why is that relevant? Cause the Detroit media is incredibly deferrential to the Wings wishes and they never talk about trade rumors unless there is serious meat behind them. And if Bob is being moved soon, that could be the first domino to fall for the deadline goaltending market.

I’m excited.

Could see it. I doubt management is satisfied with the situation in net despite what is said publicly. I just hope we don't pay too much.

And if your just shitting with me...

He didnt seem angry in is presser though if anything more complimentary of the Isles... we just had a 4 game win streak and won a tight one against washington... I doubt that was why. Not buying into the trade theory but your theory is further off.

Torts has gone in the locker room after the game ONE time this year, when the team wanted to present him with the game puck from his 600th win.

He does not go in the locker room after games, regardless of how they play.

Take your bash Torts BS elsewhere.

When you have 0 clue what your talking about, maybe you shouldn't say anything

the pressure of missing the playoffs might be getting to him... Its not out of this world to suggest he went on with some rant of his given who he is...

As another poster noted, he wasn't terribly upset with how they played tonight

Everyone knows there's fans like you who love to find any little petty reason to bash Torts,
inferior complex, ASPD, I'm not a psychiatrist, not sure
better luck next time, it ain't here

its clear you are very hot-headed. I actually love torts for being unique in his way of showing raw emotions instead of that robotic BS most display in the NHL and many other leagues.
But its possible he did do just that. I have no idea but that is speculating just like you are doing with this thread. Yet you go off when he suggested that possibility as if you are afraid his post-game actions dont mean a trade is imminent. So why ask a question if you will only accept what you want to hear?

Haha, nah not f***ing with you. Just strange timing and a little serendipity. I unexpectedly went to the Wings game tonight with my SO and was teasing her about how this might be one of Howie’s last games as a Wing (she loves the goalies for some reason). Then he played lights out for the umpteenth time this season and I started getting serious with her about how his performance tonight might actually be the game that finally convinces a GM that Howard is worth a trade. THEN we randomly have to drop off something at her Grandma’s house, where she’s watching the local news. We talk to her a little about the Wings game, then the news segment comes on, and one of the long-time Detroit sports journalists opens with a bit about Howie having another big game tonight and that the Flames are seriously interested in him.

Like I said, the Detroit media is VERY insular when it comes to the Wings. It’s long been suspected that the Ilitch family has them in their back pocket. No legitimate name in Detroit sports media gives airtime to a rumor unless it’s got serious backing. And it would make sense that the gears are really turning in trade talks for Howard if Bob’s situation has reached a solution.

As for a trade, I wouldn’t worry about giving up too much for him. Goalies don’t have that kind of market in this situation. At most, a highly conditional 1st (e.g. WCF+, otherwise a 2nd+3rd) that would end up being super late if it were given out plus a polarizing/project prospect. And you’d probably be pleasantly surprised by Howard if his HF reputation is any indication. I’m no fan of Howard (or any goalie for that matter) but he doesn’t deserve the bad rep he apparently has on here. He is absolutely a bona fide starter, a natural athlete, and has never been a product of any system. He isn’t going to be the guy to routinely compensate for a team’s shitty defense (although he is kind of doing that this year) but he can definitely be your star difference-maker from time to time while providing reliable goaltending the way.

As a CBJ season ticket holder and die hard fan since the beginning. this thread is totally unnecessary. if a trade was "imminent" we would've heard some rumblings by now about a trade about to go down. we just got shutout in the most important game of the season. only Torts and the players know what happened/what was said during the hour long post game meeting.

/ thread.

For every 25 rumours, there is 1 actual trade, and that usually only involves warm bodies or draft picks :D Big trades are less and less common.

I'm curious which threads here are "necessary."

For me, playing Wennberg between Panarin and Atkinson was more of a sign of an impending trade. It felt like he was being showcased. Dubois wasn't great in the 1st period, but it seems strange to move him off that line so quickly.

Shut 'er down. The timeframe to be considered "imminent" is long gone. Awful clickbait thread by OP. Should know better as a Sponsor.
