Typically Canadians won't know who he is. Americans don't want to know who he is but they probably know his comic books.

Jack Chick. He was a cartoonist who wrote those little Christian pamphlets (called Chick Tracts) you might find in a bus station or a phone booth.

Anyway, there was a great documentary called "God's Cartoonist" and an essay by a Chicago based writer named Dan Raeburn who's featured in the doc if you want to learn more about this bit of kitsch pop culture.
