Kinda need his numbers to drop if they hope to get him under contract for a reasonable figure next year...

Unless he signs prior to playoffs, how he does in the playoffs is going to determine his next contract IMO. The way I see it, if he regresses but does well in the playoffs and Leafs try to use his season to lower the number, he'll walk.

Yup his numbers are coming back down to earth lately but how do you expect him to stop the first and third goals and a nice snipe ?? Gibson was great last night but if he was wearing a Leaf jersey last would we expect him to stop 16 and 91's goals last night?

Lmao an own goal, a 3 on 1 and a tipped shot from 2 feet out because D decided not to D
.926 on the year

this thread and these posts are embarrassing

Exactly, every goalie goes through these stretches. Campbell carried the Leafs for a good month+

Not sure what OP expected? A season long of 930+ Save% and a sub 2 GAA?

If this is him struggling, we'll be fine.

That deflection was borderline unsavable, the penalty box goal was extraordinarily lucky, and the own goal was a overall disaster. He made the saves we needed to get the W. Gibson stole at least 1-2 goals from us but 2 points is all that really matters.

If you think Campbell was going to keep up a .940, then you may need to reassess. He hasn't been good lately but his play was going to dip eventually, you need to relax OP.
It's not the fact that his play has dipped. He's gone from elite to backup caliber overnight. It's concerning

Team has got some points and wins, but hasn't been as sharp.

Some really questionable decisions in the D-Zone, by everyone.

Handling the puck Campbell looked like he had no idea what to do. Was lucky on a couple plays that the Ducks didn't score into empty nets.

Team wide, saved by the PP last night.

The first 2 both of those were bad.

Now answer my question.

18 shots through 3 periods, 11 shots through 2 periods what more can you realistically ask for from your defense?

That gives zero context though. If your team only gives up five shots but they all happen to be breakaways are you gonna look at it and go OMG only five shots bro!

No, you should be asking why are they giving up quality chances. Stop just looking at the number and look at the whole picture.

I think going forward the 50/50 tandem is the way to go. Or no more than 60/40 for Campbell. This is why Mrazek was signed, time to give him more starts. Essentially split things up, let Campbell get out of his funk and let Mrazek get in a groove.

He’s going through a slump, every goalie goes through one at some point. At least we have a very serviceable backup goalie in Mrazek. Let’s hope he can stay healthy.

Every tender has ups and downs in regular season hockey folks .. take it easy .. it means nothing .. what counts is when playoffs starts and we need him to be da match at least of Rask, Vasi and Bobbo

His tenure here reminds me of the way that Andersen went. Not identical, but similar.

It all seems to start with getting ridden into the ground.

Not when you aren't getting 850 goaltending it's not

It's not just about tonight, if it was just tonight, or technically last night now this thread wouldn't exist because it would be a one off.

This has been going on since the blown 4-1 lead against Colorado.

This is now a trend.
His last 5 games his SV% is .863. That's bad, but it's not quite "not getting 850 goaltending" bad. You're talking about that blown Colorado lead like it was ages ago and he's been bad for months? It was just under 3 weeks ago. It's a bad 5 game stretch. Hopefully he turns things around, but this is a chance for Mrazek to get some games in.

I'm too lazy to do it but if you looked at the vezina finalists from the past few years and checked out their worst 5 game stretches I'm willing to bet it would be sub .900, nobody looks good when you cherry pick their worst 5 games. And up to now that's what this is, Campbell's worst 5 game stretch as a Leaf.
