as i said , in Leaf land it's always the goalies fault , lol

i'm wondering how thrilled Keefe was giving up the 3 on 1 due to a selfish play by our captain ?

but tell me which goals were his fault tonight ?

-Lilly shooting it off his own players shin guards into our net

-the 3 on 1 , sure he could have made a big save but that was a nice shot and if the Leafs scored that this fan base would be praising our shooter and not ripping on the opposing teams goalie

-top corner re-direct

i'm guessing from experience these goals fall under "it's the goalies job to make a big save" category lol
It is fairly obvious in these forums how many people actually watch other hockey games around the NHL. And see that, surprisingly, goalies give up goals. Not just the Leafs goalies.

The goals tonight were all justifiable, it's not like there were real stinkers. Still, he has looked shakier in net, just not as composed as usual, slower to read plays and react, etc.

Just close your eyes, pretend that he's Andersen and it's still October.

I think the consensus is that he does need to be better, especially when the games start to count more. That being said there's no need for panic. Goalies almost universally go through a cold stretch in the season and when he's on he's one of the best there is.

Does it matter if your own team shoots the puck in your own net, or if a player tips the puck 2 feet in front of you because your dman doesn't tie up a stick? Or are you blaming Campbell for those goals? If you are then I don't know what to say.

For sure I would have liked him to save the second one, but it was a 3 on 1, with a decent shooter coming down at him. Not the worst goal ever like some in here would have you believe.

It's not just about tonight, if it was just tonight, or technically last night now this thread wouldn't exist because it would be a one off.

This has been going on since the blown 4-1 lead against Colorado.

This is now a trend.

Up until your 'Colorado' game, the trend was towards excellence, some might say unsustainable excellence.
Now the trend is towards less than good, with tonight's game having 1 'savable' goal and two most would call unstoppable.
The thing about trends is they can be reversed. We saw good go to bad, maybe tonight was the beginning of bad going towards good.

The upcoming condensed schedule might solve the Leafs' goaltending problems. Part of me wants to see Campbell's struggles impact his next contract but those struggles could also be a precursor to poor playoff performance. If I were the coach though, I'd let Mrazek play more games to get better acclimated and hopefully life up to/earn his contract.

So he’s in a slump. Anyone who’s ever competed in a sport before understands hot streaks and slumps. When goalies finish the season with xx save % it wasn’t the same % every game. Sometimes they were great, other times they were trash

Repeat .926 current save %

What are you basing this on? He couldn't stop a beach ball right now

This is Andersen esk right now and he doesn't look like coming out of it

Dreger has always hated the leafs. It may be eye opening to some, but it’s not news.

Who's we? I've been saying for a few games that he's slipping. Seems to be a flaw in him that he loses his concentration when played too many games. Time to start getting Petr in a little more, like maybe two in a row if he's the best goalie in the first one.

Others are too busy misinterpreting this as me saying he's no good and Petr is better.

The team has also been trending down defensively. Like in that Colorado game the avs were all over us in the one period. We've had a lot of defensive gaffes. Like in the Ranger game when 2 of the goals, the Ranger players standing all alone in front of the net with not a single Leaf in sight. On the Reaves goal, there was 4 leafs in the corner.

1st goal- puck is going wide if the net and Engvall whips it back directly in front of the crease off Spezza's shin pad and deflects in. Not a softy.

2nd goal - a 3 on 1 that the shooter snipes top shelf. Not a softy. Its stoppable but not a softy. Why aren't you blaming the Defense for giving up a 3 on 1 in the 1st place?

3rd goal - D man throws the puck on net from the point. Puck is going high. Campbell is in position for the high shot standing up and the man in front tips it downward and to his left from 2 feet away. How is he supposed to react to that? Not a softy.

Campbell played well last night. He still has a .926 sv% on the season. All goalies have off nights or slumps. He had one last season too and guess what? He was fine the rest of the way. He will be fine. This is not thread worthy. He will get back on track and the TEAM needs to stop giving up leads. This TEAM has had a reputation of giving up leads for the last 15 years and letting their foot off the gas, no matter who is in net. The team will get back on track.

This thread is an overreaction and why Leaf fans get a bad rep.

Gotta love him for stopping the two in the shootout that mattered most.

yep. This is what matters. He keeps getting points even when struggling.

Just drops his contract ask. I said he would regress and he has.

still happy to have. Him. He is a battler and seems to come up big and find ways to win.

This is why I I've always been in favour of the 1A 1B concept. One guy goes cold, play the 1B while 1A works out his problems. If 1B is hot ride him.

The question is if Mrazek is a 1B....or maybe Campbell is?

Its kind of game really hard for a goalie. He didn't play for a week, he didn't see a lot of shot during that game and when shot came, it was an own goal, perfect shot of sylverberg on a 3v1 and a perfect deflection.

Anyone around here that has a decision-making time-line of the last two weeks should definitely keep yourself occupied posting on this hockey board, and for goodness sake just stay the Hell away from the stock market.

At least here you can over-react to what happened last night and the week before that without blowing your life savings to smithereens.

Lmao an own goal, a 3 on 1 and a tipped shot from 2 feet out because D decided not to D
.926 on the year

this thread and these posts are embarrassing

+1 to all this. :)

I agree that it’s not time to panic, but Campbell hasn’t looked as locked in as he should. He’s not tracking the puck as well as he was earlier in the season. Case in point is the first goal. It wasn’t his fault that Engvall cleared the puck in the crease directly into a danger zone. But, the save that led to that goal was his fault. He directed an easily controllable shot into his crease. He’ll be better once he gets back some confidence and plays more.
