So we should have kept Freddie ?sort all the goalies by SV% at the end of the year
no even Mrazek and Reimer's numbers with CAR were career bests. so CAR is an overall superior team to us defensivelySo we should have kept Freddie ?
So we should have kept Freddie ?
Freddy was dealing with a long time knee injury for most of last season... management played him way too much and never let him heal completely (this is pretty well know in the danish hockey chat)That makes no sense, Freddie's SV% was terrible last year so why would we have kept him? This year though he's playing great so if we could swap Campbell or Mrazek for Freddie today then of course we should do it. Hell trading them both for Freddie today looks like it would be a good move for us but obviously CAR would just laugh at that proposal.
I would be wary about accepting anything in hockey chat as fact.Freddy was dealing with a long time knee injury for most of last season... management played him way too much and never let him heal completely (this is pretty well know in the danish hockey chat)

In a long interview on the Fan590 (I believe it was before the start of the season) Freddy pretty much said he was playing with an injury and Leafs knew about it. Don't recall him saying Leafs played him too much.
At the time said he was hurt or had checked out. The results on the ice this year pretty much back up Freddy's claim IMO. Now we wait to see if Freddy can win a game 7.
That's interesting and hard to understand as it seems really dumb to play an injured player as opposed to letting him heal. If this is true then unless I'm missing something, whoever is responsible for this should be fired.
IIRC Soup was also hurt around the same time and Hutch was next in line. Perhaps they thought he would not hurt himself further and Andy took one for the team until Soup could return. Something definitely smells in Denmark.
Maybe Leafs management is being smart.
We're pretty much guaranteed a playoff spot, and we aren't going to win the division.
Campbell can get his game back, for now Kallgren is doing a great job.
I wonder how many guys in the Leafs dressing room are somewhat tired of Campbell blaming himself the way he does. This will wear thin quickly because it becomes attention seeking and team-mates are feeling forced to babysit his emotions post game. As an observer, in his first few games losing, it was admirable but routinely doing it is anything but.
One thing great goalies don't do is have self doubt.
Patrick never doubted his abilities and that he can come back next game
Same with Hasek or Tim Thomas. They dont' allow self doubt to kick in
Where Campbell, it seems he has nothing but self doubt. He says the right stuff like I'll come back next game. But there are no convictions to his statements. I wonder if really believes in what he says.
I remember when Marty Brodeaur, well spoken dude as it anyone but he always stood up for himself, he always had that, yeah I messed up, but I'll come back. You can sense that he will, you know he wasn't bsing or saying for the sake of saying
Reminds me of Fred. All he said after last years mess was "I know I'm a great goalie. I know what I'm worth" and then went and put up vezina numbers with Carolina. One thing great goalies don't do is have self doubt.

No offense here but....How the F would you know? You aren't some legendary HOF goalie and you don't have the ability to be in the minds of those who are/were.One thing great goalies don't do is have self doubt.

Not really trying to endorse Fred, it's just a nice recent example of that posters topic. Fred shrugged it off in 1 second and said he's a no.1 and nobody else can change his mind pretty much. We'd all love it if Campbell just said he's good and went back to being good. So far he's just breaking a promise.Didnt u see that goal last game short side? That reminded me of all the soft goals Anderson let in, the bad angle goals. Anderson choked in the playoffs too many times, pressure got to him. Also Anderson looked depressed post game and on the verge of snapping but he never let his emotions out. No doubt Anderson had lots of rage inside in his interviews....not sure if others sensed this.
I think this more show Fred injuries were real and not really about self doubting. It is easy to be confident when you know what your problem is. I keep up with the injury all last year. It is clear the injury was not faked and he had hard time healing. Not really trying to endorse Fred, it's just a nice recent example of that posters topic.
