I’m of the belief that the FO doesn’t want Jack playing his way into a big contract. I remember hearing Keefe on a radio interview pretty much infer that the plan was for these two tenders to have a timeshare.

Even if Jack is the 1A in their depth chart they still wanted to cap his value. I’ve seen plenty of goalies go from backup positions to starters so I don’t buy the workload excuse. He’s a pro and most likely changed his prep over the summer when he chose to bet on himself.

No goalie is consistent throughout 82 games not even the elite. It should be jacks crease to lose.

The FO has looked for every excuse to give Mzarek the job. If Campbell keeps playing like this even with the rough stretch they won’t be able to afford him.

this is a great way to artificially slow him down,

When, and in what way, have they ever done that?

Mrazek has been healthy for a good stretch of games now and he still only has been in 5 games all year.

It was originally supposed to be as close to a 50-50 split between Campbell and Mrazek this year, and Campbell has already started in 30/40 of the games the Leafs have played this year. I highly doubt he only starts 10 games the rest of the year, but I am sure they will try to make it as close to a 50-50 split as possible the rest of the way. That way Campbell only plays 50 regular season games and should be fairly fresh for the playoffs.

Surprising stat: Only 3 goalies a year or more younger than Mrazek, have played more games.

He was always going to go to the highest bidder, so if he sees any jerk in his chicken, he will just go for the big pay day, he is old now.. and injury prone...

His recent play has for sure, scaled down what he will cost for any team, unless someone goes for a reach...

It was him tonight. I still think it's because of the inconsistency of games. 3 or 4 days off in between, can't get into the rhythm. February is loaded with games. It may take a couple to get back in the groove but he should settle back in. His struggles started after the long break around Christmas, and then the sporadic cancelations. It's not just a coincidence IMO that he struggles with less playing time combined with the piss poor play in front of him.

Career: Andersen GAA 2.61, Sv% 916/ Mrazek GAA 2.60, SV% 911
Given that Mrazek is 3 years younger, 700,000 a year cheaper and signed a year longer. I think he was the better option if we knew we were going 1A/1B with Tenders. I believe there is no way Fred puts up those numbers here. I think when the pressure is on Fred will wilt.
Fred isn't going to win a series by himself, but if he's insulated like he is in Carolina hes gonna be a good option - obviously. Behind this team, he wouldn't be alot better than Campbell because Andersen doesn't give much effort on shots and this team still isn't near the defensive team as Carolina.

Stop making excuses he hasn't been good it's that simple, it's not the schedule, or the defense it's just him there are no excuses

its been 12 games sub .900 sv % .... its not really a hot take or something you need to acknowledge .

hes not the .940 Sv% goalie and not the garbage .900 sv% but something in the middle. hes probably been overplayed to be honest which is causing a problem.

He’s played 7 games since December 14th. The scheduling due to covid hasn’t helped him at all but goalies do have bad weeks. Even the best ones have rough stretches.

That's an excuse the ass kissers would make.

The answer is he's garbage right now that's it.

It's not the schedule or the defense it's him.

Don't make excuses for shitty play

I'm not making excuses. I'm looking at how he played when he was loaded up with games. Since he's not been playing as much he's been struggling. That part is a fact. Is that the reason he's struggling? Maybe not. But that is my opinion.

And even if I wanted to make an excuse for him, I will do so if I want. What's with you being such a bully? You don't like Campbell. We get that.

I liked Campbell a lot when he was playing like an NHL goalie
