When I saw Engvall clear that puck, I could clearly see the angle at which Spezza (?) had his skate positioned and that the puck would be going into the net unless Campbell acted quickly to adjust to the now impending situation. I even told my wife "watch this, it's going in". Campbells inability to read the situation could have cost us the game.

Campbell >> Mrazek
He’s the number 1, but you to have a reliable backup during this two month stretch.
Furthermore, they’re in a great position and I expect they’ll continue experimenting with the line up before the trade deadline and hopefully get a better idea of what does and doesn’t work.
If Mrazak is playing like he’s capable, thats a big contribution to the success of the team.

Colour me shocked that we get a reactionary panic thread... Full respect for having not started a trade a new goalie to the Leafs thread yet though.

You are clueless if if you can't see he's sucked the past 3 weeks.

Don't be an ass kisser

I'm just going to flip this in here to make a point:

GPWLT/OTMINGASO GAA SV%
2512751,4796512.64.901

Not great, is it? Not exactly the sign of an elite goalie, right?

Jack's numbers have been much worse for nearly 3 weeks now.

He's already set career highs in starts, minutes, and shots against this season. Perhaps we should give this Mrazek character that we're paying 3.8 million to be a bench warmer some starts.

Yup something is not right. When you have 2 goals on 11 shots, that not teh end of teh world. When you have 2 goals on 11 shots and its been like that for 3 weeks... that's a problem.

I have nothing against Campbell but 3.8 million sitting on the bench was paid that much for this very reason, to lighten Jacks work and be that quality 1B so when jack takes a dump Mizz is there to back him up and visa versa. Mizz should have started the Ducks game

I have 2 theories that may have a little to do with it. Or maybe I'm way off.

1. The number of games played lately. Seems like it's Wednesday and Saturday. 2 days off and 3 days off in between games. Used to be Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Or Monday. Wednesday and Saturday. He seemed to be doing much better on 1 day's rest.

2. The way the team is dominating puck possession. He's not seeing 35 to 40 shots per game anymore. Maybe he's getting rusty sitting and waiting for a shot to save.

So maybe it's not that he's tired from being over played but maybe it's the lack of action. :dunno:

Campbell has allowed 21 goals in his last 5 games = 4.2 GAA/g.

We are in uncharted territory with Jack based on his most games started in a season so we have no past comparable with every game he plays now.

It appears he has hit a wall that started with this last road trip.

Engvall banks it in off Spezza's skate, and that's Campbell's fault?

Have you taken leave of your sense?

You're sitting at home watching on TV with a bird's-eye view of the players. Campbell is in the net watching the Anaheim Ducks' players.

You see it unfold because your a spectator, and he doesn't see it because he's in the net doing his job. Campbell was not gazing at Jason Spezza's right skate blade.

This is as nutty as it gets.

The team has also been trending down defensively. Like in that Colorado game the avs were all over us in the one period. We've had a lot of defensive gaffes. Like in the Ranger game when 2 of the goals, the Ranger players standing all alone in front of the net with not a single Leaf in sight. On the Reaves goal, there was 4 leafs in the corner.

1st goal- puck is going wide if the net and Engvall whips it back directly in front of the crease off Spezza's shin pad and deflects in. Not a softy.

2nd goal - a 3 on 1 that the shooter snipes top shelf. Not a softy. Its stoppable but not a softy. Why aren't you blaming the Defense for giving up a 3 on 1 in the 1st place?

3rd goal - D man throws the puck on net from the point. Puck is going high. Campbell is in position for the high shot standing up and the man in front tips it downward and to his left from 2 feet away. How is he supposed to react to that? Not a softy.

Campbell played well last night. He still has a .926 sv% on the season. All goalies have off nights or slumps. He had one last season too and guess what? He was fine the rest of the way. He will be fine. This is not thread worthy. He will get back on track and the TEAM needs to stop giving up leads. This TEAM has had a reputation of giving up leads for the last 15 years and letting their foot off the gas, no matter who is in net. The team will get back on track.

This thread is an overreaction and why Leaf fans get a bad rep.
From what ive read so far only the OP is the sky is falling type of guy. Everyone else is like chill all is well.

A guy said it best in the PGT, yeah it was Soup's fault he didn't poke check Engvall. LMAO.

This is normal. Posts threads regularly in the trade board, after we lose a game... it's panic on a regular basis. It doesn't even seem like he watches half the time, just looks at the game results after.
