I was wondering what non-Rangers fans think of him. Some Rangers fans think he might be a mid-season call up and be the #3 center. Others think he can be our Brandon Dubinsky replacement. What do you all think?

A hard-nosed Dubinsky-type player with more natural skill and offensive abilities. I really like him as a player.

Thanks. Have you followed him at all? If you have do you think he might be ready some time this year? I really don't want to see Brian Boyle as our 3rd line center!

Once he's in the OHL, he can't be called up unless its an emergancy situation.

He wasn't drafted out of the CHL, so he is eligible to play in the AHL next year, even though he is only 19. Speculation is that the Rangers will start him in Hartford rather than send him to juniors, in which case he would be eligible for a mid-season call up.

Thats going to be hard for him. He wasn't a dominent player in the CHL last year. Surprised if he makes the jump that quick, the Rangers have enough young depth at the AHL level.

We lost several key forwards from our AHL team this summer. Unable to come to terms with Wellman, and Jonathan Audy-Marchessault signed a ELC with Columbus. Also lost Deveaux to Florida.

We should have Chad Kolarik back for a full year, and the addition of Yogan, Thomas, and return of Hrivik should help as well. However, the brass have indicated that there's an opportunity for Miller to win a spot in the pro ranks.

What about Miller's play last year makes you think that he is ready for pro hockey?

Plus, playing 10 minutes a night isn't going to do as much as him playing 20-25 minutes a night in Plymouth. Always believe a player should be dominent in the CHL before he graduates, Miller has not been dominant.

Guys like Christian Thomas and Andrew Yogan can add to the AHL depth, why limit a 19 year old kid when he can really take a huge step forward this year in the CHL.

Heard good things about him, but was pretty underwhelmed by him in the OHL. He's definitely not ready for 3rd line duties in the NHL. He's pretty close to being physically mature enough for the NHL, but let him learn and develop in the CHL or AHL.

He has these great spurts where you can believe the hype, but he can be very frustrating to watch. Still can't tell if its a hockey IQ thing or a confidence thing/transition to a new league. At any rate, I really don't think he should be in the NHL next year, even the AHL may be pushing it.

I think this is something that should be stressed and adhered to more often in the game at all ages. There's no need to push a player up to a higher level of play if they haven't outgrown the level they're playing at. A career in hockey is a marathon, not a sprint. I'll be very disappointed if Miller spends the whole year as a depth player in the AHL when he could be a leader on a strong OHL team.

I never said I thought he was ready. All I said was that the powers-that-be seem to think that he's a candidate for AHL duty, and actually has a chance to win a spot with the big club at some point this season. That being said, if he's in Hartford, he's certainly not going to be getting 10 minutes a night.

I'd rather see him go back to Plymouth for another year, but it's obviously not my decision.

I actually also would be very much in favor of leaving him in the OHL for another year.

I just don't think it will happen to be honest.

Saw him about 15-20 times last year in Plymouth. Showed flashes of brilliance, but no way this kid is ready for the NHL. The team's other first rounders (Noesen and Rakell, both taken after Miller,) were much more impressive last season, as were some other players. I don't know how this kid got 37 assists, he would never pass the puck, he seriously refused to at some times. He would have the puck on his stick for 20 seconds at a time and just skate around in the offensive zone trying to create something himself instead of passing, even when pressured defensively. I don't expect him to be in Plymouth next year but I think he has at least two more years of hockey before he can make the Rangers.

All of that negative assessment and he's only 2 years away? Wow, that some development curve.

If he's not on NTDP, he's not taken before the third round.

I believe that the 1993 US birth year was as bad or worse than the 1994 US birth year.

Yea, like what was already been said, he's not ready IMO. Noesen was the star of that team and outplayed him by a fair amount, and Noesen isn't really ready either.

I think Miller has a year left of development in junior before going to pros. I wouldn't rush this kid. We have plenty of talent in CT, so there is no need to panic & bring him in just yet.
