I was hoping we would bring him back.

Doesn't he have a KHL contract for 2 more years?
I believe that would make him a UFA at the end.

Please tell me I am wrong and that he is still an asset we can use.

He signed a 3 year contract in June. I think the Jets would still own his NHL rights after that. The Jets should hold on to the rights, because Telegin is a player on the rise and might have good value in 3 years on the market.

That would make him 27 at the end of it though. Aren't players a UFA after their 27th birthday?

Telegin was one of the more noticeable Russians. He was an excellent grinder-type, which I think is a little unusual (I can really only think of Anisimov in recent memory that fits that description). Really hustles.

Someone should lob him a contract.

I doubt he has an out clause in his KHL contract but he looks like we would make a great middle 6 guy. Will be interesting how much interest he will garner as a UFA.

Russia has many more Telegin and Anisimov type players on the way. The 2016 WJC Russian team was mostly a gritty team. They will perfectly complement the skilled players like Kuznetsov, Tarasenko, Panarin and Kucherov.

Guy has almost no trade value(if anything at all) under the current circumstances. He's not far removed from not being much of a player but with his KHL contract taking him to free agency, he pretty much has all the control now. If he continues his recent upward swing he could take another shot at the NHL and considering what he's already gone through in his short career, I'd be rooting for him whether it's with the Jets or not.

Didn't he have serious psychological/emotional problems after being concussed? Maybe staying in Russia is the best thing for him.

Telegin looked like an NHL lock. Fast, very strong in the corners. Does miniscule points in the KHL, not exactly sure why.

3rd line and see if there is any upside. Looked like he could be a 15+15 player already this year.

I dont think he is on upward swing in KHL if you look at his stats and gametime.

Anybody follows his KHL team here?

Telegin is a strong utility player for CSKA. His scoring totals won't blow you away but he has the potential to score a lot more than he does. He's good defensively by NHL standards. He could be a solid middle 6 winger who scores 40-50 points per season while killing penalties.

I d be happy with 15+15 roster stable 3rd liner. He looked very good though. Impressive in every game.

Telegin didn't score much last year because CSKA was very deep on the wing and he wasn't expected to score, started the season on 4th line pretty much. But his role grew as the season went on and he was one of the key forwards in the playoffs, hence got called up to NT for WC. He will score a lot more this year as he is 3rd between CSKA forwards in TOI.

However, as long as he plays for CSKA, or even more so in the NHL, he won't be a scorer. 50 points is way out of his league. Really and excellent player otherwise, though. Sergei Kalinin is a very similar player and a similar story (never scored more than 25 points in the KHL) only Telegin is better.

He can't go anywhere in the NHL for 2 years unless the Jets trade his rights, so we're talking about him going to other NHL teams in two years. Who knows how good he'll be in 2 years.

50 pts? He was a 4th liner with the icecaps (when they were winnipegs affialiate). I barely noticed him when he played

at best he is a 20-30pt bottm 6 forward that can kill penalties, he isnt coming anywhere close to 50

50 points per season is a 1st liner territory by today's standards ;)

I remembered his name from playing with the Jets a few years ago in nhl, he really impressed me at the WCOH. I'd be surprised if a bunch of nhl teams weren't trying to get him to come over when his current contract ends.
