Also, I have to say Aaltonen as an underage player has been surprisingly good. He's easily the best skater of the bunch and he's been effective at what he does. Chemistry between him and Kupari as well.

CZE 5:1 SUI

Czechs are better and rightfully in lead, but truth is there have been some defensive farts and Dostal is the only reason it's not closer. Swiss had like 3 breakaways.
Him and Pekar standing out the most so far (from CZE)

People call me crazy but I like Kupari more than Kotkaniemi as prospect. He plays with such a high speed and has danglers hands. Has been better internationally in same tournaments aswell.

Tough 2nd for the Swiss, looked a bit lost in between. The Czechs with quicker minds along their technical and physical supremacy. The swiss GKs fight a bit unlucky, though both are good talents in general.

The result's a bit harsh, even if the lead is well deserved.

Nussbaumer beside being responsible for the 4th czech goal is by far most noticeable from the swiss.

I hope for a positive 3rd resultwise.

I can see the Barkov comparisons in Kotkaniemi. It's easier to stand out in these games when you are speedy dangler like Kupari who looks very impressive.

Well, Kotkaniemi has been among Finland's worst this game. Hardly done anything with the puck and the few times I saw him touch it he either did something insignificant or gave it away.

On the other hand, Kupari has far and away been the game's best player.

I don't know, I thought Kotkaniemi was clearly the better player at the U18 last spring but then again I think Kupari seems to have improved massively over the summer and has been trending up for a while now. I think both players are first rounders at this point and both have very high ceilings. Ylonen too. I like all 3 right now from a first round standpoint.

A fast question if you was Jussi Ahokas and you should choose one 2000 born player in Finland's world junior roster which one you would take Kotkaniemi or Kupari?.

I would go Kupari.

Well of course, but one's also been much more productive than the other. It's not only the flash.

Also, Barkov's a flashy dangler.

Would have easily said Kotkaniemi two hours ago. I had never really been impressed by him in the past but today he's something else. Will need to watch more games to decide, but Kupari is making a solid case right now. Great to see.

Agree, czech GK looked very calm and solid so far.
Though it has to be said, the 3vs 0 breakaway was poorly executed by the swiss. (Nussbaumer again)

Gotta wonder how on earth Aaltonen didn't orginally make the team since he is playing on the first PP unit and top6? The bottom 6 grinders have been pretty useless..

Yeah, I'm not sure. He's pretty clearly better than Ranta, Tanus or Killinen. Maybe Maccelli makes a bit of a case but not quite.

Also, the one timer goal was impressive by Aaltonen. It was a bouncing puck and one timing it with that accuracy isn't easy. He also had a couple of nice shots on goal and, as I've mentioned, he's inarguably the best skater on the team.

Does anyone know how tall Aaltonen is nowadays? He looks quite small out there.

Listed as 174 I think.

Kotkaniemi is very promising but Barkov was as a prospect something else what Kotkaniemi is right now ( read better).

I have been most impressed by Maccelli and Utunen. Maccelli has been really dangerous with the puck. Reminds me of Ylönen, but with a little more urgency to his game.

Yup, Maccelli has been a nice discovery for me today. He has been great. Is he a projected 2019 first rounder at this point? I would put him up there easily.

Just add Kupari and that sounds about right.
