A bunch of Canadian players were average to bad. Only guy who really exceeded my expectations was Calen Addison, who was the best Canadian on the ice. Made quick reads and seemed to always know when to make the proper pinch.
McBain looks promising, but man does he need to improve his speed and balance while skating. He's a tall kid, so maybe that will come as he fills out. Jet Woo and Ty Smith were for the most part good. Veleno is a great skater and works hard, but I really question how well he makes reads off the cycle to unlock a team. I think that might be his biggest hindrance to being a potential #1 center at the NHL level. I'm just not sure if the offensive ability is there. Merkley was Merkely, made some dynamic plays but also did things that left you shaking your head. Way too many times was he ultra aggressive in the offensive zone that could lead to breakouts against.
Jared McIssac was the worst player on the ice in my opinion. Repeatedly pinched up ice for hits leaving him out of position, got caught flat footed and wasn't very good with the puck.
It was only one game, so it will be interesting to see how the Canadians bounce back.
