I would probably expect a bit more from Jakub Lauko, but he's good and likely just as advertised, I would like to see him skate faster in some moments, and see better 2way play.

Adam Gajarsky to me is a player to watch. I really like him, he's flashy, skilled, he knows where to be on the ice, is not afraid to play physical, really fun player to watch.

Jan Jenik, Vojtech Strondala, Matej Blumel aro other forwards who impressed me.

I would add Plasek and Pekar to those who impressed. Plasek is very fast and skilled, when he adds some weight on he could be force. Jenik is very interesting, born on the last day of eligibility for 2018 draft, you can see he has lots of maturing left to do.
Absolutely agree on Gajarsky, my favorite player of this team. Seems like that player who "can do it all".
One player who I think hasn't showed his true colors yet is Kvasnica. Very strong PK player, hard to knock off the puck and good along the boards. But also a very hard and accurate wrist shot. That snipe against US was hopefully a sign of things to come, since he can really rip it. (Though I admit the US defenseman didn't make it that hard for him, their defense was kinda mess, that shorhanded 7th goal by Jenik was a great example of that.)

On the other side, defense is once again the area of weakness for us... Zabransky is good due to his offensive side, and Klejna is solid, too, then it gets a bit rough. Basically, there is no one else who I liked when it comes to defensemen, a lot of unnecessary mistakes from defensemen which led to USA pressure. Players like Adamek, Kowalczyk are not good enough for this level.

Dostal (G) is legit. He looks great, athletic, always in position and sees the puck well through traffic.

Unfortunately, true. Before the tournament began, I thought Czechs would struggle offensively, but would be rock solid defensively. It's the exact opposite. Zabransky has his moments, pretty good shot, but his foot speed needs some work, seems a bit sluggish out there. Malik has been the most dissapointing for me. He has always been among the best D in U17, but here he just makes so many mistakes. Needs to get stronger, for a guy of his size he's very thin. I don't understand why the Adamek-Malik pairing has not been changed yet, by far the worst in my eyes. Shame Dajcar is injured, top pairing defenseman on this team. Agree on Dostal, guy is very good, easily the backbone of this 00 generation.

Nice theyll play one more placement match still come tomorrow... for 5th and 6th place Finland vs Usa and for 7th and 8th place Slovakia vs Switzerland.. hopefully streams for those aswell

I agree with the evaluation. I just want to write that I really like Dluhoš from our defenders (from what I saw).

They would bring all their top players if first was their only goal but it is also about creating depth. It's also hard to deny that their success is going up at other tournaments, by identifying some of these players against the best and using them on bigger stages. The Americans have also done very well with a couple silvers and bronzes the last five years and that's amazing in itself when you factor in that most are playing together for the first time. Even with this being a weaker team, I could identify quite a few that would only make the NTDP team better.

One thing for sure, is it must have been very hard for the coaches to figure out lines with so few practices. Some of the names I expected to shine saw very little ice in the games I watched.

We must also give some credit to the winning teams.

Oh that actually does work! Thanks, no idea how to navigate that site.

Sui-Svk 2:1

Finally a win again for Switzerland at the Hlinka after 2 years. The level of play wasn't very high in this game, as expected.

I'm glad Pena-Triana finally got some ice-time in this game, even if it was with limited talent. (Wüest)
He was the one remaining, which i hadn't seen play on international level yet. Looked more skilled than most other swiss attackers. Makes one think, the coaches might had some beef with him. Considering he was only on the roster as an injury replacement.

Overall: Im pretty optimistic Nussbaumer (late birthday) and A.Schmid got noticed by the scouts. Not so sure about Nico Gross though, wasn't as dominant as one could've hoped.0

I expected more from Switzerland

Their 00 birth year is significantly better than ours, and they struggled alot in the 1st period

Looks like the gap between us might get smaller

Anyone know what time the Canada Sweden semi final takes place, on the ivan hlinka webpage it says 19:00 but is that eastern time or is that the time wherever the tournament is taking place? By the way where is t taking place this year?

1st period is underway right now (game started 16 minutes ago).

Breclav (CZE) / Bratislava (SK) as usual.

Yep, me too. The 00ers offer nice depth through the Line-up on all positions for Switzerland, but they are missing a true top-talent. They had much better results on U16/17 than the 2 previous generations, the scoring was well spread through the whole line-up. They are pretty small on average too. The older they grow, the more this could get a problem. They were struggling physicaly through the first 3 games.

And we shouldn't forget. For every 7-0 win from this guys against Slovakia last year, there was a 3-2 win for Slovakia too.

Just looked at the summary (unable to watch) and looks like SWE takes penalty after penalty. Are they plain stupid or are the referees cray cray?
