I’m not convinced he’s even capable of suiting up and playing with the Habs on such short notice. And even if immigration and contract stuff works out super fast, is it a good idea to rush our blue chip prospect to playoff hockey (against a top-seeded team) on smaller ice and burn an ELC year in the process?

It’s not as clear to me as it is to some others, I guess.

It didn't hurt Caufield to be parachuted into the end of the season and playoff hockey against a top-seeded team. Also it's been said that most KHL teams including SKA are using NHL sized rinks.

The burning an ELC year could go either way, it could be the difference between signing him after coming off a 70-80pt season vs coming off a 100pt season. He's going to get paid very well either way, but it can be the difference of several million on his cap hit which is probably more impactful then an extra year of his ELC.
