The Habs can’t pay the buyout, but I think Kent and co. were busy on their visit …

“Promise me, Ivan. If you ever get out... find that spot. At the base of that wall, you'll find a rock that has no earthly business in a Russian hayfield. Piece of black, volcanic glass. There's something buried under it I want you to have.”
~ Kent

Here’s what they said about Gritsyuk btw. These people have no idea what they’re talking about.
Thanks for this. He’s 4 years older thoug and been at Ska for longer. So not exactly apples and apples

Is he in the same contract situation as Demidov?

Yes and no.

Yes because Gritsyk, Nikishin & Demidov all have their contracts ending May 31st.

No because Gritsyuk and Nikishin had extended to stay in Russia previously. Gritsyk is 24 and Nikishin is 23. Whereas Demidov is 19 and in his first opportunity, he wants to leave.

So it's almost like Gritsyk and Nikishin paid their dues and are more likely to be granted their release early. In their eyes, Demidov hasn't so they might not grant it.

Even Michkov, who is also young, was granted his release because he had extended to stay in Russia. In his case, as we know, they let him go in the middle of his KHL contract. But he also had shown willingness (or strongarmed) to sign an extension.

Look at it this way, they’re either letting guys out or they’re not. They aren’t doing favours for players because they’ve been there a few years and then looking at Demidov, their leading scorer, and say nah f*** this guy.

Well they can because they can't seem the others to the MHL.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least they have that mentality.

Hoping I'm wrong and they let him go to sign with Habs.

Yes, no way the team that underplayed and even benched his top scorer because he wouldn’t extend with them would keep on playing games in any other venues they can. Surely they haven’t show in the past to pull BS in Demidov case.

It has nothing to do with 'paying your dues'.

If Gritsyuk/Nikishin are released but not Demidov, it's because Demidov can be sent to the VHL/MHL to help those teams.
Demidov is not gonna, under contract with SKA, sit around doing nothing 2 months.

But SKA letting all these guys out of their contracts bids very well for Demidov too.

They literally haven’t shown anything like that in the past, you are correct
