RR is the chairmen of the board of directions of SKA.. he runs the club

Not only that but he’s also the chairmen of the KHL BOARD
Rottenberg is the head coach, GM is Dmitry Konstantinov, and President is Gennady Timchenki.

SKA is Russian state owned by Gazprom Export - Chairman of the board is Mikhail Mishustin

Can we just stop with pretending we KNOW for sure what's going on with SKA and their decision making based on hearsay and let's be honest some pretty racist judgements about a country we actually know nothing about? Repeating something you've read on Twitter 10000 times doesn't automatically make it true, some of you guys are talking as if you're actually part of management there. I'm not saying Demidov is coming over within the next month, but until he's been sent to MHL or VHL, let's stop pretending this is already a done deal.

He’s not coming

Medvedev is Chairman of Gazprom but subsidiary Gazprom Export is run by Mishustin - as Medvedev stepped away in 2011 to act as President & GM of SKA FC

I could be wrong but I thought the only thing stopping a player from breaking their contract and signing anyways is that the IIHF punishes the player by not letting them participate in international tournaments. But given Russia isn't allowed to participate anyways what's really stopping him from saying F-it and signing anyways.

Would be dumb, since Russia won't be banned forever.

Why wouldn’t he simply wait until his contract is over in less than two months?

Everyone here is assuming Demidov is more loyal to the Habs than he is to Russian Hockey. I’m pretty sure he’d be thrilled to play for his country and wouldn’t want to jeopardize that needlessly.

Exactly.

Rotenberg is coach, Deputy Chairman of SKA’s Board and the Vice President.

He’s highly influential, but he isnt the highest authority on SKA. The Gazprom guys are. That’s where the money comes from.
My point was that he’s more influential then the GM and he he president not that he was the most influential

''Players may play up to 10 NHL games in a season (including playoffs) and be still be eligible to slide. As soon as they play 10 games, their contract starts and can no longer slide. ''

in that case, he can start a game or 2 before the playoffs.... or even into the playoffs, and for it not to slide, we would be in round 2 .... worth it if you ask me....
now the hard part. get them to release him

Can someone call Dan Milstein and tell us if Demidov and Nikishin made the same arrangement 2 weeks ago (visa, papers, and team contact)??!!

It'd be interesting to know what internal discussions Habs management is having today/tomorrow and what/if any actions they'll be taking. I'm assuming any communication done with SKA would be done through Bobrov.

I don't know what's going to happen but all i know is that after playing a year against men and performing very well in the KHL he's gonna absolutely demolish the MHL if he get sent there.

That's almost unfair for other teams if that's the case lol

If he even tries. It must be demoralizing to dominate the KHL and then get sent to the MHL. That would be like the Habs sending Suzuki to Laval.
