Worst part is that you just know MSL will give him the opportunity in the playoffs unlike the dinosaurs MT/CJ
Should be Rex of Hudson and Rex. Unfortunately Rex (Diesel Von Bergenwald) died of cancer a few months ago.How would that conversation go?
Hughes - Hi Mr. President....Kent Hughes here
SKA Prez - Who?
Hughes - GM Montreal Canadiens....I'd like to talk to you about releasing Ivan Demidov from his contractual obligations.
SKA Prez - Say no more......10 million crisp American dollars.....91 cartons of cigarettes.....American camels preferably.....Pizza party for me and my friends in the penthouse of the Burj Khalifa sponsored by Molson Beer with guest appearance by the Littlest Hobo and finally a signed Nick Suzuki SKA jersey.
Hughes - uhhhhh.....okay done.
SKA is a Russian State owned team, the discussions would without doubt have some Cdn government facilitation IMO.How would that conversation go?

According to the NHL CBA, teams can't pay a Russian team a transfer fee. Although everyone heard that the Flyers might have paid something to get Michkov out early. In that case... That would mean the NHL unofficially doesn't enforce these CBA clauses. But I don't know if the story is true. If It would be only a question of money (I don't think it is), it would easily be solved. How would that conversation go?

I think SKA could ask the habs to leverage footage of him for the teams social accounts to basically get a second cheer for him for the Habs run but the idea ska needs to care about us is unfortunately naive.SKA is a Russian State owned team, the discussions would without doubt have some Cdn government facilitation IMO.
They can but it counts against the cap is my memory and unfortunately we are right up againstAccording to the NHL CBA, teams can't pay a Russian team a transfer fee. Mike chez RONA will show him the ropes once he’s here. The gloves will tell the story. Watch for the gloves.
As hopeful as I am he’ll come over this year and whatever bias that may give me—RR’s words convey that it’s certainly not impossible as many seem to say. As far as I can tell anyways. Dodgy translations aside.
Yeah I’m weirdly confident now. Not saying 100% but that door is open even if it’s just a creak right nowwho want to take a bet with me, 10$ wired that he will join mtl before his contract ends
like seriously why would SKA send him to junior just to have one more month of trying to conveince him, if he says planely im going to the NHL then they would be best to accept 1M buyout rather than nothing after may 31
im confident he it will work out within the next 2 weeks![]()
wrong, its owned by gazprom and the state has majority stakes in gazprom but gazprom is the owner, the state have nothing to do directlySKA is a Russian State owned team, the discussions would without doubt have some Cdn government facilitation IMO.

That's exactly what I suggested 2 days ago.I understand giving Demidov the best environment to thrive, though, as, in my opinion, Demidov is a potential franchise forward and you don't want waste that type of player's potential.
The same is being applied to Slafkovsky by playing him on a line with Caufield and Suzuki, but Demidov is an even better player than Slafkovsky.
Does that mean that Demidov doesn't need as good a C as Slafkovsky forms learning curve? Maybe not?
How about Slafkovsky - Suzuki- Demidov? I actually like the idea of Slafkovsky returning to his natural side with a C we all know to be good (finally).
Caufield has been more of a play driver this season and, with the right C, like Horvat, as an example, a line of Caufield - Horvat - Laine could create fireworks with goal scoring coming from all angles on a line with three confirmed 30+ goal scorers!
Slafkovsky (20) - Suzuki (30) - Demidov (25)
Caufield (30) - Horvat (30) - Laine (30)
165 goals from the top-6 would be awesome!
I kept hearing that about Nikishin too. To the point it was fact I thought. Seeing that he’s grouped the 2 players together in that statement when he could easily make the distinction between the two again is somewhat telling.I'm expecting them to send him to VHL or MHL to join the SKA affiliates for their playoffs. I'm not expecting him to be released early to join Montreal. But man would that not be amazing if he comes over.
In his presser, Rotenberg mentioned that it would be better for Demidov and Nikishin to stay in Russia. However, regarding Nikishin, there was a report that there was an agreement they would release him early to join Carolina.
RR might have no knowledge about it. GM and President would have much more of a say than him. Unless RR de facto runs the club...I kept hearing that about Nikishin too. Either way, if there was absolutely zero chance of Demidov being let go, RR would surely just say that ‘No. He’s ours until May 31st.’
