Pre-Game Talk: It's Not Working

I am slightly annoyed that suddenly with Team Canada he was flying around the ice. Then with the Oilers he looks disinterested and lazy again.
Regardless, this team is likely a first round exit unless they make some major moves at the deadline.

MacKinnon had two ass games but woke up last night. Hopefully McDavid follows that trend.

Oilers have been playing like crap for February basically. "Not my fault" Drivesaitl took a month off as the teams been on sabbatical or holidays as well so anyway. I'll shit talk Drai's linemates pregame in the hope they do something and shut me up. Lets see Arvid scores a goal, falls down less and Skinner bags two. I'm hoping in the Florida net.

My guy Draisaitl basically the only Oiler that shouldn't be bagskated this month. Several Oilers confirming my thoughts on how we have several forwards who are just useless.

Drai is the captain. He's got so much heart and soul for the game he needs to be teaching the team and not doing what we all saw McDavid do after probably 10 years of frustration. They needed Drai to instead say "lets f***ing do this if you cant do it give the puck to ME and I WILL WIN US THE CUP" idk I think it would work out better if McDavid wasn't the C automatically because "hes so good bro".

Knob has been dumb. First period was a masterclass against Tampa and EPSN interviewed him quickly on the bench at one point and I like what he said but I feel as if the Lightning was all ears to what he said and then in the second they attacked for real and we folded. Would like it if he talked the good talk and then we won that game by a lot instead of getting Godly Stu then regular Stu.

Yup, the team's bad habits are exposing their warts and it was even present in those games in Chicago/St Louis that they did win.

While you were gone there was a lot of talk on these threads about the Oilers signing Connor Brown to a 5 year extension.

Drai is certainly being a pretty good role model on and off the ice. His problem though, I think, is he'll stoically just keep working harder until he can't trying to right the club again and he's maybe not as hard and demanding on others than he could be. Drai will be the first person to fault himself despite being the only forward playing well. He'll then absolve all others saying they've been fine. In that way neither McD or Drai are putting expectations on rest of team. When you have another guy like Nuge or Booch just mailing in really subpar seasons I'm not sure what message gets sent. We have several supporting cast players, forwards, that are just there and content letting McDrai do all the production and then just being bothered to show up in playoffs. We have a lot of look down the bench forwards on this club. Very few with determination to produce themselves.

Ngl, I’d be sitting Arvidsson or Janmark after last game. Also why are we still doing this dumb experiment at 4C. We are 7-4-1 with Philp in the lineup.

Nuge - McDavid - Hyman
Skinner - Draisaitl - Savoie
Podkolzin - Henrique - Brown/Janmark
Kapanen/Janmark/Arvidsson - Philp - Perry

Waive whomever the odd man out is. I don’t think many teams will take a flier out on Janmark, Arvidsson or Kapanen if you waive them. Kapanen probably most likely to get claimed out of those 3.

Also this Klingberg experiment should be coming to its conclusion soon. Dude just isn’t it.

I have no idea what is keeping Kapanen in the lineup. He's the only guy in that mix of bottom 6 player that is deep in the minuses (lately), and he's been prone to the dumb f*** neutral zone screw up even when it wasn't a team wide disease like it is now. He also gave the gift to get the Lightning back in it last game.

At least with Arvidsson there is hope he finds something and with Janmark his history here and PK ability. I can't think of a single possible argument to keep Kapanen in the lineup.

Team Canada had a lot more talent but it was good goaltending that got them over the line.
Also, McDavid isn't very good 5 on 5.
