Idk why he won’t shoot again tonight he passes up prime shooting opportunities for a pass that doesn’t need to be made. Idk how many shot attempts he had but he needs to be shooting a high volume of shots with his release.
There must be some element of this that they are being coached to do. All too often Svech (and Aho) make that "one pass too many" to a player who is either well-covered or the pass is into the intended recipient's skates etc...

Honestly, look I know where this team is in the standings and I know where we have been this year.

But if this team doesn't pull their heads out of their asses they are going to collapse their way out of the playoff race. They look seriously BAD the last couple weeks, the worst we've seen them look as a team since Brindy took over as head coach and it's been consistent enough to be worrisome that the bottom falling out might be closer than we think.

I also know that with guys like Nikishin coming in soon that this year might not be something that we truly really are going for it during, but I am worried the forward lines look like complete shit.
Then they should be doing a mini sell off at the deadline trade any pending UFA’s. Eat half of Orlov’s deal and you could get a haul
for him. Cash in on Roslovic and Robinson’s good starts.

I thought I saw someone mention it here but Svech has gotta be nursing a hand or wrist injury, no? The amount of flubbed shots and passed up shot opportunities…something has gotta be amiss

Idk what it is but Svech should have 8-10 shot attempts a game imo he should be constantly putting up 5 plus shots on net a game with the way he can shoot it. Too many times I’ve watched him pass up prime shooting opportunities to make a silly pass even on 2 on 1’s he’s gotta be more selfish imo

Rants, too, seemed they had an off ice community that's gone now.
He’s newly married now though which would no doubt lead to a distance from the TT-Raanta group anyway.

NP selling JR but Robinson plays head and should be a keeper

With the exception of Drury, this is the same team that rose to the top in GF/G and PP%. The talent is still there, but they're clearly struggling with confidence and chemistry right now. I'm not an NHL coach, so I'm not going to pretend to know how to fix it. Every team goes through ups and downs, and as a die-hard fan it always seems like the one your team is facing is the worst.

I agree we absolutely need a 2C. When the team is struggling, I feel like it really puts that need under a magnifying glass.

I also think when your team is going through a rough patch and struggling to score you need to .....

make a f***ing save.

But Kotchetkov did make the saves last night. He made a few 10-bellers, in fact. And unless you’re expecting him to pitch a shutout every night, goalies are going to allow a goal or two over the course of most games. That’s just part of hockey.

He kept it a 1-0 game late into the 3rd period, giving ample time and opportunity for the team in front of them to get their head out of their ass. They failed him, not the other way around.

He kept it to 2 goals but that was a tight 1-0 type game where the next goal amplifies the outcome. That 2nd goal is charmin soft. those are the kinds of saves you simply have to make in a game like that.

...and No I don't expect him to pitch a shutout but Yes, I expect him to match the opposing goalie’s performance in a 1-0 game. Everyone wants to point fingers at the forwards, but maybe Ottawa simply played better defensively, and their goalie stepped up more than ours. After all, they blocked 16 shots to our 7.

Ottawa blocked so many shots because our forwards were well off their game. They’re playing with zero confidence right now, and when that happens, the “smart” play for most of them is to get it to the point. But when the opposing team knows that’s the only option (and our forwards refuse to fight to get tips/rebounds), they’ll gladly give up that point shot and simply stack bodies in front of their goalie to ensure it’s blocked and they’ll be able to retrieve the rebound.

If you watch the zone possession between our team and the teams we’ve played lately, it’s night and day. Opposing teams are finding the open man, their passes are crisp, and they’re winning board battles consistently. Our players are flubbing passes, we’re trying to force pucks past defenders, and any battle along the board ends with it being knocked away.

I’m not sure what caused this sudden change in the team. After all, they were playing very well not too long ago. We know they are capable of doing so. But clearly, something has changed in that locker room, and it needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.

Well I do blame the goalie for the soft goal at a critical point in the game. I’m not saying he’s the only reason they lost but he didn't out perform Ullmark. Our forwards had more HD chances than Ottawa’s. Ottawa had a lot more blocked shots and Ullmark filled in the gap.

I agree with the confidence argument and poor puck management. Said as much during the game. The team has some issues right now obviously. I’m sure they’ll get them ironed out eventually. They normally do.
