Based on how he began his NHL journey back in the summer/fall of 2005 (and even before that, I guess), I knew that Anze Kopitar was destined for NHL stardom, so it comes as no surprise to this reporter that he has played in 1,000 NHL games and has now scored 1,000 NHL points.

What a special, special player. A great milestone for King Kopi. Sometimes it takes something like this to appreciate how lucky the Kings are to have Kopitar the past 15 years.

The fact Kopi is almost a PPG player in this league really is tremendous, especially on a team that struggled to score for for 2/3 of his career. Then to think of all of the goals that he helped keep out because of the tough matchups he drew throughout his career really set him apart.
