Isn't it going to be one of the most interesting WHC in years?

Yeah. I think Canada could dominate the tournament if all those stars will actually will come. That's what I expect but who knows how they react.

Canada failed to dominate with star studded rosters in 11/12, 12/13 most recently. So I don't expect them do any different this year.

Last year it was many that said no thanks, because of the olympics, now it only goes back to normal.

We should see good atmosphere at the very least. It has been since 2011 when we had these games played in a country where the show is not run by a greedy dictator.

Well, there was Sweden, but they somehow managed to make things silly without.

You should maybe be more humble after 5 straight q-final losses.
Pretty optimistic about the team. It depends how serious Hockey Canada takes it, if they want to win then try to win by getting a system in place instead of trying to play pond hockey. Get there early and practice for a couple of days and be ready.

He might be a dictator but considering last year's ticket pricing, Lukashenko was anything but greedy. No wonder the attendance record was broken.

Atmosphere should be great this year with basically two home teams playing (Czechs in Prague and Slovaks in Ostrava).

Though the tickets for CZE/SVK games are not exactly cheap when you consider how much most people earn in these countries. Cheapest tickets for a single game for these teams are 47 Euro, I think. But at least (unlike in Slovakia 2011) they went with differentiating the prices according to the level of interest for the teams and even the cheapest tickets for a game are cheaper than in 2011.

Come on, you are no longer "at home" in the Czech Republic...!

It is perfectly alright to be optimistic about your team, but if you going around thinking you are are by far the best team when you have gone out in the q-final 5 year in a row, then something is wrong. If that do not make your more humble, what will?

Nothing really. That's what I'm expecting especially when Canada sends great players to the tournament, if they fail that's too bad but that's just what I expect from top players in the world.

This is going to be the greatest World Championship ever.

One of the World's most beautiful cities, elite players attending, another attendance record likely to be broken.

Only a Prague World Championship can accomplish this. No better place to have this tournament, the atmosphere will be through the roof, it's the mecca for traveler's and players alike.

First time in years that I'm excited for this tourney, lucky to all those that are going, it's going to be an unbelievable fun time.

Of course I know. :) If it goes well for the Slovaks they can make a trip to Prague as well. ;)

I'm not quite sure how likely it is that it will happen this year, but darn does that bring back some atrocious memories from 2004. Were it not for that 2010 Olympics last period fiasco against Finland, the Prague semifinal/3rd place game would likely be my worst hockey memory. Of course there also was Torino quarterfinal, but at least that didn't feature that whole Lašák tripped behind the net incident.

yep :yo:

The World Ice Hockey Championship is story number ONE in the Czech Republic. The billboards everywhere, ads in the radio and TV, every damn company want to show the support for the team...yeah, it's getting hot here. :-)

Will be one of the better in a while yeah, the teams are shaping up nicely and the arenas will be loud.

I'm very excited, iI feel like the field is wide open. I feel like hosting in such a beautiful place makes it more attractive for players. It's nice to see that Canada's roster is shaping up to be one of the better ones in a while. Hopefully that helps generate some more interest over here. I also think that with TSN no longer having NHL rights, they will promote and cover the tournament a lot more than they have in the past.

would have loved to go this year but none of my friends like hockey :(

think it's gonna be a great tournament and prague might just be my favourite city in europe

If Connor McDavid is there that will instantly make things more interesting. In general, the WHC is quaint but that's what makes it interesting because we get to see Slovenia vs "Team Canada B".

I wouldn't call those star studded rosters lol
I jest, of course, but does this really make the situation any more flattering for Canada? After all, it's not like their opponents have been that dazzling either.

Therefore one could say that Canada, the heartland of hockey, needs their biggest multi-million earners to be successful. Employ a squad of NHLers who are still solid, but not THAT solid, and any group of floaters mostly consisting of euro washouts can unleash a can of whoopass on 'em.
