Confirmed with Link: 2025 NHL DRAFT Thread: The Isles Have Won the 2025 Draft Lottery

I need to hear more about Misa.

I watched the world juniors this year and college hockey playoffs and kept tabs on juniors because of Ritchie.

Misa didn’t make the WJC team and was a no show in the playoffs.

Schaffer got hurt and wasn’t a shoe in top choice last season but after 17 games all of a sudden is this year?

Hagens scored a big Ot goal in college I saw and was the number one center on team USA that won Gold.

Talk to me fellas..

I’ve been reading about Chicago and they drafted the Russian righty 2nd overall, Korchinski 7th overall and have some guy Rinschel or something who’s doing well and Vlasic is only 23. I think they need to give Bedard a high end talent player in the top 6.

Sharks I think need D more with Celebrini and Smith in the fold.
I don’t know if sharks would be willing but

1st for 2nd + Chernyshov would be insane!

Depends on what SJ thinks for Schaefer but Greir was quoted as saying the draft is “Schaefer and a bunch of forwards”

I’d hate it but I’d do it. I may push for Musty instead.

Well, this is quite disturbing, it's Tavares and Hedman all over again lol,.....

Kimelman -- Michael Misa, C, Saginaw (OHL): The Blackhawks can continue to build depth through the middle of the ice with Misa (6-1, 184), who has earned comparisons to John Tavares for his high-end skill and hockey IQ. Misa leads all Canadian Hockey League players with 110 points (53 goals, 57 assists) in 52 games, and he’s done it with strong skating, vision and creativity in the offensive zone.

Because Schaefer has been out most of the year, he plays another year before making the jump.

Which gives the Isles an opportunity to tank for McKenna and really send this rebuild into overdrive!

That's exactly right, and defenseman take longer to make an impact at the NHL level usually so the team will be as bad next year most likely too. More time for him to develop, better draft picks for the Islanders.

It’s weird because I don’t see the comparison at all. Maybe the fact that their goal scoring isn’t just about being a sniper but rather being in the right areas and knowing where to be to score goals?

I want to win but if there was ever a time to decide to rebuild now is it. You have young assets already in the fold, the number 1 pick now, and some assets to trade off

Maybe that’s not necessary and we can commit to drafting right and getting younger while keeping all the 30 and under guys? That might be the way to go.

You would know way more than me, I just found it hysterical that I went looking for news on Misa Marinade and the 1st comparison I see is JT lol.

Pulock Pelech and Mayfield all falling off and fast. It’s Schaefer for me

I so badly wanted a chance at Hagens! Really didn’t expect us to win this lotto hahah but to me now I can’t pass up the #1 franchise D

See you at UFA years James
We draft Schaefer 1st overall

Utah calls you up and offers #4 overall + for Barzal. With Hagens on the board. What do you do?

hang up, need more...I know a lot of you guys have mix feelings about Barzal and even though Hagens is a "Home town" guy. That's not good value, well IMO anyway.

At the end of the day, all these prospects are still prospects and very much unproven.

REMEMBER this ownership will never just tear it down to the bones...Barzal is wheather we like it or not the face of the franchise for now.

As a Sharks fan, I’d kill for Schaefer — he fills a huge need. Is there a general consensus here? You guys think the Isles go Schaefer or Misa?
Dude, no idea. Outside of us not being in a position to draft these guys, where if we were I’d imagine more of the board would watch prospect games, we don’t know our GM.

What I can say is we have Barzal and Horvat who are solid top six guys up front. Richie is by all means a top prospect. Eiserman had a terrific D+1 year. Danny Nelson is projecting well to be a middle six forward. On D Romanov and Dobson are 24, both need new contracts. The rub on Dobson is people want to pay him for his fifty point seasons than his 70.

What am I getting at? Whoever we take between Shaffer, Hagens or Misa is a net positive. I don’t think most of us care.
