Also it allows the Isles to sign Dobson for 8 years (from the age of 25-33) on his next contract. That's the perfect age range to invest in a player long term.

Also NYI simply can't afford to go higher now without shedding roster players. Assuming they bury 1.2MAAV in contracts (Martin, I'd presume) they had approx 6.8MAAV after Romanov + Bellows. That's not enough to get to 7/8 years.

I'd be surprsied if it's not in the 6 to 6.5 range. Below that would be low. Above that would force a roster move.
