Isles have "Interest" in Thomas- Boston Globe

I could see TT quickly becoming next season's Bryz after all the universe is humangous big nonsense. the press will be looking to get over the top quotes from him. dont really think the isles need a player making those kinds of quotes. the team is finally being taken seriously for the 1st time in a long time, so they dont need a guy making rediciluous statements

If the isles do have interest in Thomas the number1 reason would be because his initials are the same.
We love players with the same letters

I've changed my mind. I don't want Tim Thomas anywhere near the Islanders under any circumstances.

"I care not what puppet is placed on the throne of England to rule the Empire.... the man that controls Britain's money supply controls the British Empire. And I control the money supply."

- Baron Nathan Mayer Rothschild, of the Rothschild international banking cartel

I could care less about the Obama stuff. The anti-gay rights stuff bothers me. The moneyed Jewish conspiracy-mongering goes too far. Don't want a potential David Icke on the team, I don't care how good he is. I can't root for that.

You missed a few of his other comments..

"It's tough to win, tough to win a championship. So we didn't get there the first few years, but I think we really got to show what we're all about, how mentally tough we are. I think that's the message -- that you're going to be disappointed. That's what sport teaches you. But the real test of a person and test of a champion is, can you continue to fight when things don't go your way. And that's what we did."

Quote for the Day:

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get Hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

Are you being serious? 10 months ago it was like $1800 and now it's $1300?

Uh huh..... and that's 28%. Which is a bit of a haircut, and quite a painful loss depending on how many zeros were in the initial investment. Even still, assuming he had the worst adviser in the world and that person didn't have him invest a single penny (before or after its peak at 1900) and he rode his entire position all the way down (without selling any off), he still would be fine.

I find this hard to believe....gold has NEVER dropped in value in the last 30 years. Unless he bought it when he was a kid I don't believe that....

It drops in value from time to time, but yes historically speaking its a steady riser. The direct correlation between gold price and USD in the money supply would indicate that as long as the printing presses remain on the gold price will be sure to rise again. In the future gold will retest it's 1900/oz high and if and when it breaks through it will keep on chugging right through with great momentum.

That said, it is very possible to lose MUCH more money perhaps all of it, if he or someone else invested it in certain gold related funds, etf's or mining companies or funds. Those are much more speculative and less related to the valuation of the gold prices themselves.

Anyway, I think its pure speculation regarding Thomas (both his investments and the Islanders supposed interest in him). I don't think either are true. If the Islanders DID sign him, I wouldn't mind it though. He would add depth and allow Poulin and Nilsson time to develop in the AHL for at least another season. Which would be best for both of them.

Was TT constantly making ridiculous statement after ridiculous statement though? No. Was he faced with a barrage of political questions as he sat in his stall after every game and proceeded to bash POTUS and the rail on the national debt? No. Did he hold seminars for his teammates on healthcare and his stance on gay marriage? No. The guy kept his politics out of the locker room as best he could, even as the Boston media tried to press him on it. Tuukka Rask even said so and mentioned that the guy got a bad rap. Chara later commented that it's unfortunate Thomas decided to take a year off, but that it's his decision and he and his teammates are ok with that.

Then you can say, "Well, he refused to attend the White House Cup ceremony and that negatively impacts the players." I don't really think it did as some of the players had stated. It really wasn't that big of a deal until the press made it a big deal and blew it out of proportion...and got everybody worked up. Bottom line, Thomas is a very opinionated guy...right on some points, wrong on some points...but he kept it out of the room and it didn't seem to affect the players and management.

Now getting to what matters most, based on his actual on-ice play (which is what we should be focused on), I'd be ok giving him a one year deal but I'd feel better giving him a tryout. He's been out of the game for one season and if he can prove that he can still play, I'd consider splitting time between him and Nabby. If either steps up and plays remarkably well, we'll be in great shape.

Ultimately though, I feel best taking the risk of a Nabby-Poulin/Nilsson combo. It's a big risk, but I think one of the two young guys is ready to take the next step. And I actually think it'll end up being Nilsson.

Oh and FWIW, not only do I not care about TT not going to the White House, I actually support him in his decision (and not because it was Obama, but he could have done this to any president, since you can count the number of good US President on one hand). Though I must admit I think what Ronan O'Gara did to the Queen of England was even better. Which was show up, and kept his hands in his pockets when the Queen went to shake his hand.

Try and find an article that supports O'Gara. He was abused in the papers (gee, wonder why?). After all these players shouldn't be making political statements, it's all about the teams accomplishment right? :sarcasm: PLEASE spare me. The president and royal family use sports team annually to grandstand and for political gain, so athletes can use the experience for their personal politics as well (whether you disagree with them or not).

not only do I not care about TT not going to the White House, I actually support him in his decision

that makes 2 of us. i wouldnt have gone either. not because i disagree with his polocies or practices---i dont really give a **** about either one---but because obama probably couldnt have named 5 boston bruins. he sure as hell aint going to use me to curry favoure with my teams fans. and thats all those white house ceremonies are........political grand standing.

as for his on ice talents, after a year off, and considering his age, he would have to "audition" for the role. if he looks a tad better than "okay" id offer him a one or two year deal.
