I was a big fan of Engvall’s ability to be a second zone entry playing flying through the zone with his speed other than Barzal. Having another option is great.

Also, he one of the few to step up these playoffs.

He clicked with Nelson and IF (big if) he can be a steady 40 point guy over 7 seasons then this is a good enough deal. If the chemistry builds and he can reach the coveted 20-goal mark in a handful of those years — its and even better deal. Ultimately, it is an intriguing contract.

Unlike two of the other deals today, there’s a real chance he outplays this contract. I don’t mind long deals taking a gamble on a player during his prime years.

Good deal. He looked on the verge of breaking out offensively last season, which could turn this into a steal if it happens. If nothing else he makes us faster and bigger, and those are things we need.
