Except for the close-ups, McKenny's actual 70-71 footage was used to portray the main character during games. Armstrong has tons of lines, and a few other players get a line or two.Is that Mckenny

Not the greatest movie, but the Leaf game footage makes for wonderful nostalgia. Harold Ballard is actually in a scene playing a Leafs doctor of all things, and there's a scene on the team bus where Darryl Sittler accidentally looks at the camera.

cant find team/league stats for this.

Awe, Going Down the Road, so great. Would be considered an art film in Germany lol. Stubbies ‘50 and Export A’s. Or Molson Golden. That actor is still active. Speaks like a stereotypical hoser. I can picture him knocking back a half dozen stubbies while smoking Export A's. I think he does that in this movie.
1970's Canadian cinema, maybe a bit amateurish but watchable. See also Going Down the Road and Black Christmas.
Can't remember who, probably Zeke, that use to go on and on about how faceoffs weren't an important stat.Such a massive stat that we just take for granted. The advanced stats are impacted greatly, the flow of the game, defensive relief, offensive bonus. A cornerstone advantage for this team.

Coincidentally the Leafs weren't very good at it then.
Sure is nice to see them start with the puck more times than not now.
The great Art Hindle. Terrific story arc as a sleazy baby seller on Dallas. That actor is still active. Speaks like a stereotypical hoser. I can picture him knocking back a half dozen stubbies while smoking Export A's. I think he does that in this movie.

Weird thing to try and call out zeke for. Ive never talked about faceoffs much. I did mention before this year that they were likely to be one of the best faceoffs teams in hockey.
But it's a safe bet that you have ignored faceoffs entirely whenever talking about the Matthews, Tavares, Kampf, Spezza signings or contracts.
That being said, as nice and they are, you're probably a guy that overrates their impact because you just don't realize the actual difference in real numbers faceoffs won each game there actually are.
It is nice that the Leafs are the best faceoff team in hockey as some of us noted they would be....but at the same time, the fact that FLA, COL, WSH, NYR, are all in the bottom 5 in faceoffs doesn't make their teams any less impressive or dangerous I don't think.
