Is this the most important draft in Kings history?

No. It is, however, the most important year for the development team in a long, long while. So many high quality prospects are turning pro or possibly turning pro, the work on individuals and team building is going to be heavy duty.

And we have yet to see what they can do with true blue chippers too. Turcotte and #2 are big experiments.

No, the Doughty draft was. It really started the defense first identity that helped shape the cup teams. This draft will be important, but it won't be "the" defining one .

As with elections for POTUS, the next draft will be the most important in Kings history.

No. I want to see playoffs next season, 2020 - 21. !!!

Maybe I'm greedy? - so what. We seem to have a good mix of veterans and even more young players.
The Kings are nowhere near the playoffs and it would be really stupid to push for it.
Be patient for a year and let the kids develop instead of rushing them, sacrificing the future and wasting assets.
Would it be so much better to just miss the playoffs or have a first round exit instead of being a bottom feeder and get ready for Cup contention in a few years?

If Byfield is NHL ready next year I could see LA making the playoffs.

There’s no way we are making the playoffs. Other teams have not regressed to the point where we can move that many spots in the rankings. We are likely going to be icing a very young team. I also don’t know if Quick has enough left in the tank. And the reigns are not being handed over to Peterson this year.

Personally I’d like to see one more year of tanking near the bottom of the standings. The Kovalchuk buyout ends this year and Phaneuf buyout cost drops significantly freeing up another 10 million of cap Space. And the following year will be the last for Brown and Carter. Between those four contracts we free up 20 million to be able to resign everyone we want to keep.

I was so pleased that Blake did not sign any stupid contracts, We are looking to be in great shape going forward

Hindsight is 20/20 and I have none with this draft yet. Where I do have hindsight is that the most important event in the history of this team is the winning of 2012 Stanley Cup championship. So to me, the most important draft is 2008.

The choice between Doughty (on-ice genius) or Bogosian (physical specimen but just slightly above average player) was huge. He didn't win either Conn Smythe but it wouldn't surprise me if he topped out in number of votes combining both 2012 and 2014. Also in the same draft we picked up Slava Voynov, who was the cure for Jack Johnson's "defensive" play and paved the way for us to acquire my man Jeff Carter. Even though the rest of the field didn't pan out, getting legit RHD 1D and 3D in one draft is really good.

What I'm hearing is that you're guaranteeing a 2024 Stanley Cup.
