Like seriously? He signs his big contract and now he's just mailing it in!
He clearly can't handle the pressure in Toronto.

Would we have to retain to move him?

Would we have to add assets to move his contract?

Is his contract even movable at all?

Would much rather see a guy like Ho-Sang in his spot. He wouldn't be any worse.

Ummmmm no? Not at all?

the guy has had multiple 90 pt pace seasons in a row. Is owed 6.2 million a year In real salary during a pandemic. And IF we wanted to. We could trade him to 31 teams.

this is silly. Eichel isn’t a cap dump coming off 2 goals in 21 games and wanting an experimental surgery.

the idea that marner is a cap dump is just insane.

He is still a great player but probably needs a change in scenery. It's going to be hard to find a team that will give you much to take on that contract though. If it was $8M yes but at almost 11M it will be tough. Either you retain 3 or 4M or take back a bad contract worth 3 or 4M. That kind of defeats the purpose of moving him to free up cap space though and still be a contender.

He's not a cap dump but there will be money coming back. When Rick Nash was traded two years into his monster deal I believe the return had 80% of his cap hit, and Dubinsky was seen as underperforming and in need of a change of scenery. I think a deal looks like that.

1st, A-/B+ Prospect, a couple of roster players with upside but question marks.

Looking at the cash dollars owed Nick Schmaltz would be a good candidate to be the Dubinsky piece.

He needs a change of scenery in the worst way possible. Willing to bet if he's traded that he starts to rip it up again pretty quickly.
