ya, expected, or rather, as i guessed (but wouldnt have bet money on)

very talented, IQ and hands are top notch. Speed and physicality is holding him back from being a better even strength player... although, i will say that I feared he might get pushed around more. He is a bit of a mini-tank.

Doing great for season 1 in a new league, team and continent, on smaller ice, as a teenager. Perhaps he is even doing 'better than expected' or 'on the high end of expected estimation'

I think he's spot on with where he was anticipated to be. Top-6 forward immediately with sky high upside.

Hitting 65 points as a 19 year old rookie is super impressive. He'll firmly be a PPG player by 21 or 22, can't say he's at all underachieving his expectations.

I obviously hate the Flyers have him, but I'm glad he's in the NHL and got out of the KHL. The NHL needs more talent like him.

I figured he could score about 70 points in a full season, be better on the PP and have some ups and downs. I think that’s about what he’s done so far

It depends how far you go into expected.

He should be expected to play more minutes and get more points because of it. Bedard plays 2 minutes more per game than he does.

BUT

Tortorella is his coach so it was expected he gets weeks off as a healthy scratch because he didn't go down on a knee and block a shot while up 3 with 2 minutes left. The fact that he's not thrown under the bus completely already is him performing much better than expected.

Depends on who you ask. I'd say he's probably meeting expectations for this season.

Closer to above than below expectations.

Better than expected,

To expect a 19 year old to be on a 70 point pace in their rookie season is some wild expectations imo.

I honestly saw him in the 60 point range, which is great for a guy his age as a rookie in the NHL, if he hits 70+ that’s pretty nuts. But tbh he’s that good, he’s got a shot, he improves every game it seems.

Hesitating between option 1 and 2. Voted 2, better than expected.

I had lower expectations for him though, I thought he might take a good year to acclimate himself to NHL. He's doing pretty good so far.

Better than haters expected. Somewhere it was expected before the season. 65 points for this flyers team was what we could wait from a young and small player of his talent level. He is playing little bit better and the biggest question is what he will face next - rookie wall or stepping on another level.

Obviously he is having a very impressive rookie season. That being said, I think a lot of expectations -- especially from the stats people and flyers fans -- were that he was the best russian prospect since Ovi and Malkin.

A 70 point pace is no doubt impressive no matter how you get them but he's done the majority of his damage on the powerplay and hasn't really driven play at even strength. He's also played the majority of his minutes with Konecny and Couturier, two extremely good players (especially compared to someone like Bedard last year who had to drag around Kurashev and Foligno). I think those things will come for him but it's still a tier down in historical rookie performances from me and not the Ovi/Crosby/Malkin/McDavid/Matthews level that I think a lot of people wanted it to be and closer to a Marner or Keller (which once again is very impressive!!!!!)

He's doing better than Bedard, I think that means he is exceeding expectations. That draft was hyped as another McDavid / Eichel but this time the Eichel seems to actually have a shot at being better than the McDavid.

Depends who you ask. I saw him live at the U18s and it was immediately obvious his processing speed and hockey IQ were special and have been closely following his career ever since. I was enamored with his smarts and ability to read the game.
Agree with this but the NHL is the best league in the world.

He is doing as expected and even the Torts benching was easy to predict.

Michkov is a superstar player at every level. No surprise he’s a superstar in the NHL.
Maybe in a couple of years as he isn't a superstar yet and that's no slight as he is only 19.

In a way but really Bedard is not meeting expectations thus far. I suppose the 3rd season for him will be rather telling but for now Michkov seems a little better.
