Top 5 player for several years

The eye test, stats/honors, and general feeling say he is.

What do you think?

My initial thought was no, he needs more time, but then I looked at his stats.

In general, the cutoff has kind of been 1000 points and he's already hit that (which is what I was surprised at). So based on that, when you include everything else, yeah, he's a lock for the HOF.
OT kinda. I always preferred peak over longevity.

For instance, MacKinnon is a much better player than Sundin ever was. If Sundin was your best player, I'm not sure that's a legit cup contender.

Andreychuk played forever and his stats look better than he ever really was.

He might not even be top five in his own organization. Sakic, Roy, Forsberg and Makar. Let's not forget Quebec with Goulet either.

Best player of all time is a high bar to reach.
Five time Hart finalist, seven time top-10 in points and has probably been the most popular choice for the 2nd best player in the league for a span of ~7-8 years. Always ups his game in the playoffs. His prime is already one of the best of all time.

I mean if we're doing the direct comparison, assuming a straight PPG meaning no more than 82 points (unlikely), Mack will pass Sundin in a little over 4 years. That would also mean Mack would do it in I'm guessing 150 less games played.

Having said that, to play devils advocate, this is when you start getting into sample size. What's the minimum number of GP or years to bridge the cap between peak vs longevity.
