Kings Article: Is LA Kings Rookie D Brayden McNabb Finding His Game Just In The Nick Of Time?

Great read Gann!

Love this kid. It's been fantastic to watch his development. If he had better foot speed, I have no doubt he could play on a top-pairing. His reads and positioning get better every game and his physical play is exactly what we need.

I agree with this wholeheartedly and we kind of expected coming into this season that this would happen at least once or twice:

"McNabb said that the time he spent as a healthy scratch helped him.

“I didn’t play for a few games, so I put in a lot of work off the ice and after practice,” he noted. “That makes you take a step back and look at games to see what you can do better. Sometimes that helps, and in my case, it helped. Now I’m just doing whatever I can to stay in the lineup.”"

I'm on the same page with the Kings coaching staff when they thought he was the best defenseman not in the NHL. He's a top 4 mainstay in my opinion. He could be anything from a number 2 to a number 5 but he's got the potential and coaching staff to be a solid number 2 defenseman.

I think sitting for a couple of games really helped. I think that was the plan going in to the season before all hell broke loose

Yup. Baptism by fire for him for sure, he's done an admirable job. Pretty solid assist production from him despite the extremely limited PP time he's received. He's going to be Sheldon Souray, 2.0
