Is it too hard to play in Canada?

I live in southwestern Ontario. Being a big Yankees player that shits the bed and doesn’t live up to expectations is still worse. Sports are far bigger in the US than in Canada.

Especially with the change in demographics in Ontario over the last 15 years, hockey isn’t nearly as big as it used to be. I would challenge your assertion that way more people care about hockey than basketball, especially in the Toronto/Sauga region.

Hockey is definitely way ahead. The Raptors gained some interest cause they won, but they are now back to normal, so interest will drop accordingly. The thing with playing for the Yankees is they can buy a championship any year they want, there fans have also seen championships, while the Leafs fans haven't seen anything so the pressure on individual players is far less than hockey where most teams are lucky to have 4-5 really good players. All the other 3 major sports it is far easier to have good teams, not so much for the NHL. Hockey will always be #1 here, and especially the Leafs. It is the media that is the real issue as they talk about the Leafs, then a little bit about the Raptors, then right back to the Leafs, even in the offseason.

When players leave Toronto, or Canada in general a large chunk of the reason is the hounding of the media. As I said earlier, there is lots more stuff for NY etc, to talk about sports wise than basically just one team in Toronto.
