Felt like starting a thread about this guy main boards style.

Im very impressed and surprised. He seems to fit so well in the Lavi system of full on D activation. Also plays with an edge and got a nice goal against the Pens.

So yeah, what are your thoughts? Is he the best D at the moment? Or is it a similar guy in Jensen?

Right now I would put him behind Orlov and Jensen. He doesn’t have Carlson’s offensive game and is unlikely to put up those types of numbers. That said he will be a mainstay on this team for a long long time, just really solid.

Don't be an embarrassment like the guy who made the Adam Fox Top 10 all time thread

Fever's doing great in just about every facet of his game, ahead of schedule, very few mistakes, takes the body, great skater, good decisions

Let's just be happy he's fitting in to NHL full-time life and excelling

No, but I'm very much liking his play as our #3.

Does that put him ahead of Jensen?

Whatever the case, he looks like a big upgrade over what the Caps had last year. He's playing well, and I am hard pressed to point out something he isn't doing well.

He's got the best speed of the defensemen on the team. It looks like he was given the green light to pinch ahead of yesterday's game and the result was several nice scoring chances.

Orlov is the best defensive defenseman, and underrated in general IMO. he doesn't get looks on the PP largely due to left handedness. Jensen looks great as an all-around puck moving defenseman. Carlson is still elite offensively but his defense has taken a step back over the past few years. IMO Carlson's defense has gotten so bad that he's not irrefutably the #1 guy despite the $8M salary. TVR has played extremely well and I think he's significantly better than Brendan Dillon. Schultz is Jeckel and Hyde.

Alright here's my rankings:

1. Carlson
2. Orlov
3. Jensen
4. Fehervary
5. TVR
6. Schultz

I think it's a solid group. Not the best in the NHL but you can win with this blue line and it's not a weakness.

There are a lot no's on the board. I'm not saying get our best dman yet but here is something to think about. He just turned 22 years old. None of the other guys were this far in their development at age 22.
It took Orlov several years to become a decent defenceman,. Jensen was already in his 30s when he found his game.
I think people here are drastically over rating Jensen. He has played his best of his career this season. He has improved alot since he got here but it doesn't make him a Norris calibre defenceman like a few here are saying.
I still think Carlson is our number 1. I know he hasn't played great this year but it's too early to count him out. After that I would say Orlov then Jensen, Fehrevary, TVR and Schultz.

It’s not about one guy. It is about having 6 dee that compliment each other. Moving from slow pounders to agile defensemen that allow a five man rotation with lots of speed. Fever has been a big part of that for sure.

If i was drafting defensemen off the Caps roster he would be 4th as an individual. And i would probably draft McIlrath before Schultz. Haha.

1. Orlov
2. Jensen (i'm happily eating crow on this one)
3. Carl-Vary
5. TVR
6. Schultz

Fehervary is ahead of Carslon if you want to play the cap hit vs performance aspect. IMHO, Fehervary is untouchable at trade deadline. As is Orlov/Jensen. I'd move Carlson (which wont happen) for someone like Seth Jones.

Definitly he is on the path to become best domestic Def for Caps, and with time one of the best in the league.
Great in PK, fast, can hit, agile, smart and very tough to play against.

Lavi system boost his development.
