Is Chris Bourque a top 6 guy?

I never have had the chance to really see him play, so I was wondering what your opinions of him were.

ive gotten a chance to see him play a little bit with the bears and also at two capitols rookie scrimmages now. i can honestly say i can not see him in the bottome six..mainly because he is way too small to be any type of a grinder. I see his potential as being a very good set up guy though. not sure if other see that, but when i watch him play i can tell he has a vision on the ice. not so sure how that plays out with him in pressure situations...but when hes out there you can tell the kid can see the whole ice. also, his assets could be used on the point on the power play. thats where i would love to use him anyway...and he has a decent shot and again, loves to set others up. he has potential to be a 2nd line winger IMHO.

I didn't see him last year, but before that I was never terribly impressed with him. a skilled guy who just struck me as one that might not have it ever really come together for him.

but he is young and may have improved since then. I'd say he's definitely a top 6 winger or nothing, but I have questions on how good of a top 6 winger he'll manage to be.

Could be a PP specialist i suppose. Took a wicked hit last season against Hamilton. I think he'll be given more time this year in Hershey to show what he can do. In camps and things he's been phenomenal. I can't wait to see it on the ice

Bourque was a very young 19-year-old AHL player last year, saw ice time in mid-season, sustained that injury, then was sat for the playoff run in deference to more veteran players.

He's supposed to get top-six ice time and more responsibility with Hershey in 2006-07, and I'm sure management will be watching him closely to see how he handles it. Last year was basically his pro learning curve season. He has to turn it on in 2006-07. The early word from the early July prospect camp is that he was perhapos the most impressive forward out there. We'll see.

i only saw him college, but it was live so it was a quality experience. he was a young freshman and he was running the point on the pp for bc. i think thats pretty amazing all by itself. not only that, but he was pretty impressive at it. he was mentally ahead of everyone on the ice. he was super quick, and unafraid to make big plays. i was really impressed and i think as a player, he's definitely good enough to play a top 6 role. it'll always be a size thing, because he is tiny. smallest guy on the ice.

It was BU, not BC, and he was a puck hog with a bad attitude. Also, to set the record straight, Miller ran the PP ... Bourque was just the trigger man.

I personally don’t think the golden boy will be able to make the show. He is too small and his skills/attitude aren’t good enough to compensate IMO. But who knows, a lot of things could have changed since the last I saw him play.

sounds like you just dont like the "golden boy".

I go to BU, so I saw all of his home games (including exhibition) and listened to most of his away games.

1) The kid is (or was) a terrible puck hog. Almost all of his assists came off of one of his shots, which while overpowering in college, will merely be ok-good in the NHL. He is stuck at being a AAAA player in my opinion; think Steve Kariya.

2) As for having a bad attitude; the kid just rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I mean, his license plate read "CB 19" for Christ’s sake. He always had a holier than thou attitude and bolted at the first chance he could get. I know that the others on the team were particularly upset with his attitude.

BTW, a quarterback controls the play and moves the puck around, looking for the open man. The trigger man is the person who he is normally trying to get the puck to. Miller would work the puck around until he found either Vandy open down low, or Bourque up high.
