Is calling Illegal curve now Illegal?

When's the last time ya saw them call some one for Illegal curve?

When's the last time ya saw them call some one for Illegal curve?

Before the carbon fiber sticks, players were bending the curve on their hockey sticks (with torch) themselves.
Now all sticks are made of carbon fiber and can not be bent beyond regulation.

Also, I guess that the McSorley incident probably changed the way teams manage this.
That was pretty dramatic: they lost a SCF game because of that.

Last time I remember it was 2009. Ron Wilson (coaching the Leafs) called for one against Spezza. He took a lot of heat for it in the media because it was essentially a meaningless game.



I imagine the reason more coaches don't do it is because most of their players are running around with illegal curves too. So it's kind of an unwritten rule where you don't call the other coach's guys out for it and he doesn't call yours out for it.

This thread would be better on the main board because people here mainly watch Habs games or the eastern conference pretty exclusively, so we pretty much never see 50% of the teams in the NHL.

I'm pretty sure it's because curves aren't illegal anymore, unless they are dangerous.

Curve sticks aren't really great... They aren't good for puck handling and back hand pass/shot are almost impossible. For instance, Datsyuk is playing with an almost flat stick.
