I missed Porty’s Front and Nationwide podcast yesterday and found that technical glitches have prevented availability of the normal recorded broadcast. Can anyone relay if the podcast included any bits of new news or speculation?

Waddell said he feels like Jiricek has nothing to gain from the A.

Friedman wouldn’t word it the way he has with Jiricek if they were really taking calls on him. Aka they aren’t trading him. He’s going off the frustration and dust up from last season.

Earlier update was that Lindstrom is still skating, and Don wants to be able to send him down before the end of the month.

“Lindstrom even if healthy and able to go through a training camp. He was going back to Medicine Hat. These guys (Matey incl.) are going to be trained and developed the right way. No more of that stuff anymore.” (Referring to just bouncing guys around and playing up when they shouldn’t under Jarmo’s watch)

Says people are jumping to conclusions about Jiricek and his attitude.

Says Walsh can obviously be a very outspoken guy but think it has more to do with Allan feeling like he has to speak out on behalf of his clients. Says it feels like it’s coming more from his clients not Walsh directly. Says none of this behavior doesn’t at least get cleared by someone in the client party.

“There are trust issues here. Plain and simple.” Talking about Jiricek

Losing streak will not give way to any acceleration on prov trade.

Dean mentioned forwards not circling back to cover for defensemen jumping into the play. Which is fine for the D but don’t have coverage from the forwards.

not really a surprise given the low expectations coming in to the year, the recent history and that is' college football season. We may not like it but that does impact the early part of the year. I think it's more the expectations and nothing to draw fans in this year beyond a new coach and GM and no one knew how that would impact this team. Attendance will pick up in December and beyond.
Even more so if they can somehow remain somewhat competitive.

In the system pretty much all they have is Savoie and Akey isn't it? No 1st either
They have a 1st in 2026, I think, which is less appealing. Sam O'Reilly was their pick from last year, no? I think there are other teams that will have more interesting offers.

F & N notes

Someone asked about first to be traded and biggest return in trade

“Jiricek if traded would get the biggest return”

“Provy not sure he gets a 1st. Maybe not. Could be a 2nd and a prospect.”

“I think a lot of what comes back at TDL would be draft picks”

“I’m fine with Mateychuk over baking in the AHL. That’s never been done in franchise history.”

“Olivier with his recent play believe it or not has worked his way onto the list or at least to the top of the list” - guessing he meant trade candidates

“Can’t say for sure on Danforth. Can’t say it doesn’t make sense either.” - Talking about Danforth extension

Thinks we keep one of Kuraly or Danforth at TDL.

Porty did say Sunday gathering will have some new details about TDL candidates.

No firm offer on the table with Jiricek. However, Porty thinks phone calls are going out. Reiterates that Jiricek has not requested a trade. Porty thinks they were too patient with Jiricek.

Mentions the Drysdale - Gauthier deal as well.

Re: Jiricek - Thinks it would be a Yager - McGroarty trade type deal

KJ says injury was a different part of the shoulder. Not the surgically repaired part.

Trade Big Board

Prov #1 - Jiricek #8 - Olivier #11

“[Provorov] will likely net the Blue Jackets a first-round pick before the deadline.”

“The Blue Jackets are open to listening on offers to give [Jiricek] a fresh start.”

“Olivier has caught the attention of at least a couple of NHL teams..”

Plenty of time remains before the March 7 trade deadline, but it appears interest is already building in Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman Ivan Provorov.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports the Blue Jackets will be looking for a first-round pick back for Provorov, once the team decides they are ready to deal him.

"Ivan Provorov figures to be the No. 1 rental defenceman traded before March 7," LeBrun explained on Insider Trading. "But the Columbus Blue Jackets are calling the several teams that have reached out or telling them they're not ready to deal with him quite yet.

"And there's an understandable sensitivity to the Jackets wanting to give their group as long a leash as possible to remain competitive. But the business of the game will take over at some point here. They're not going to make the playoffs.

"They have to manage their assets ahead of March 7. They will most likely deal Provorov.

"The asking price will be a first-round pick, which is obviously pretty rich. Now, last year, Sean Walker and Noah Hanifin did indeed fetch a first-round pick as rental defenceman at the deadline. Chris Tanev did not, although some of that (is because) Calgary just preferred the package they got from Dallas. So, we'll see if [Blue Jackets general manager] Don Waddell can get that. But [Provorov] will be a name we'll be talking about a lot."

Provorov is in his second season with the Blue Jackets after being in the summer of 2023 from the Philadelphia Flyers. He is a pending unrestricted free agent carrying a cap hit of $4.725 million after the Los Angeles Kings retained just over $2 million of his $6.75 million salary in the three-way trade that landed him in Columbus.

I really don’t get why we “have” to trade Jiricek and I do not agree with them being too “patient” with him. Hes only 20 for gods sake.
For context, Porty’s reference to being too patient with Jiricek was also about having him sit in the press box. Porty feels he needed to be playing and Cleveland could have been on the table earlier.

Will David Jiricek stay in #CBJ ? The talented defenseman is back in the AHL as trade talks heat up with teams like @EdmontonOilers and @PredsNHL circling according to a well-placed source! via @JimBiringer

No idea how valid that source is to be fair. However, Porty did say on his podcast that some calls are going out on Jiricek. He hasn’t requested a trade but maybe a trade resolution could be in the works. Elliotte Friedman also said on a OilersNow appearance that Oilers had eyes on him. Maybe they’re just using that and trying to stir up clicks but …. Find it a little bit interesting.

Edit to this: I was told by an oilers fan that other teams were mentioned in the pursuit for Jiricek by EF. Nashville being one of them as well. He also apparently said that Jiricek just wants to play no matter what.
