Interesting Historical Note (re: Rangers trading their Captains)

Unless I'm mistaken:

The last time the Rangers traded their captain was on June 30, 2003 when the Rangers traded the rights to Mark Messier to the San Jose Sharks for future considerations.

Those futures became a 4th round draft pick.

The Rangers used that 4th round pick to draft Ryan Callahan.

You are correct - was the trivia question last night.

I guess this means the 1st rounder the Rangers offered up can possibly be a Ranger captain in 2035 when we trade for him.
 
A hidden lineage within the Captaincy of the NY Rangers? Seems like Bauval, Gardner, or Hancock should be all over this one.
