So we average 2.4 man games lost every game. Which is double what calgary has dealt with all season.... EVERY.... GAME. Almost hard to believe.

The fact we’re in a playoff race at all combined with Tippetts coaching and shoddy goaltending speaks well of the team.

Just play him, nothing to lose. I’m sure he can handle the 4 minutes that Turris and Benson get, and he can’t possibly make our dreadful PK any worse.
Has his anti covid measure stance ruined his image that much? Archibald was an incredible depth player and great on the PK. There was always a spot for him on this team imo. His dumb mistake in the playoffs was just one mistake, as big as it was. Steve Smith might have cost us a cup but we still kept him

But whatever. There were people who didn't want Kane here. The correct move with Achie is to play him if it helps the team

Well, he got called up, because they HAD to, not because they made the correct assessment that he has been better than Smith this year. The Oilers mgmt gets no points for doing something they were forced into doing, lol.
Could be just a way to do this while saving face for Smith

Doubtful, they would have said he had some sort of lingering injury, instead of a flu. A lingering injury they could pretend lasted a few weeks while they took a longer look at Smith. A flu will be gone in 24-72 hours.
That was my immediate thought too but we will see what happens as time goes on. Some are speculating that this time away could linger indefinitely.

Maybe, just maybe, they just want to keep their option open for now. If Skinner bombs they may want to be able to play Smith rather than hurt his development. They may not want to even attempt a goalie trade until the actual deadline.

Not giving them any points. Just pointing out he had been called up. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Oh yeah, no hate directed towards you man! lol

I am just not willing to accept that they finally did the rational thing, and are giving Smith a seat while they take another look at Skinner to see if he is able to help, or if he is "more of the same".

Do they count Klefbom there? If it’s without then that’s insane.
Yes, includes Klefbom. Only just fell on the side of including him rather than treating him as retired, as it sounds like he's not given up hope on returning, as unlikely as it seems.

That number for defensemen breaks down as (through 55 games):
55 Klefbom
23 Russell
18 Keith
12 Koekkoek
7 Niemeläinen Nurse
6 Barrie
4 Ceci
1 Lagesson

Hmm....sign a bunch of older guys, have some smaller guys, other guys with an injury history, and have pathetic depth so as to force overuse of the few competent players. And then be surprised and shocked when your team goes through multiple injury stages throughout the season, and trot it out once again as excuses just like every other year. Just so Oilers.

WE as a fan base just kill players, then when they get hurt we use the injuries as some kind of excuse.

The guys playing the most minutes have stayed relatively injury free.

Injuries are just random events.

Trying to pretend like its a skill is pretty out there.

Pretending some players don't get injured more than others, and pretending that old players don't recover as quickly or as well as younger players is what's really out there. Let us all know when you come back from wherever you're at.
