in what order do you put on your gear? specifically, do you put on your pants, shin pads, socks, then skates, etc?

Jock
Pants
Socks
Skates
Shins (Pull socks over them, after theyre fastened)
Tape over shins
Shoulder Pads
Elbow Pads
Jersey
Helmet
Gloves

Yeah, I'm a shins over skates guy:

Base layer
Jock/Garter/Socks
(roll socks up above my knee-cap)
Pants
Skates
Shins
(roll socks down over shins)
Elbow pads
Shouldies
Jersey
Helmet
Mouthguard
Gloves

As I've gotten older, I've also added a knee sleeve, a wrist support, and trainers tape to the equation, but no need to include those in the list.

(Inline)

Girdle
Chest protector
Socks
Pants
Skates
Shins (under pants, + strap them)
Elbows
Jersey
Helmet
Gloves

I used to put my shins on before my skates (and therefore tongues out) but found trying to tighten my skates drove me nuts. Shins are now over my skates and I shift them up a bit to tighten.

jock
shin guards
socks
pants
skates
shoulder pads (if i'm wearing them)
elbow pads
jersey
helmet
gloves

for those that roll your socks up at the knee cap, when you pull them over your shin pads, doesn't the bottom or your socks stretch awkwardly? my socks are tight/elastic at the bottom and the elastic could be heard ripping when I did this

1) Long-sleeved compression top
2) Pelvic protector
3) Ankle brace
4) Knee brace
5) Socks
6) Skates
7) Shin pads (after which I pull my socks up and tape them)
8) Pants
9) Short sleeved top (usually a rugby or soccer shirt for "luck")
10) Elbow pads
11) Jersey
12) Helmet
13) Gloves

I don't wear shoulder pads.

I'm a bit different than most.

Base layers
Socks
Skates
Shins
Socks over shins and then taped
Pants
Padded shirt
Elbows
Jersey
Helmet
Gloves

Every dressing room I've been in, I'm the only guy putting on pants after skates, nice to see some others on here doing the same.

Sometimes I forget to get the socks on before skates, and have to struggle them over the skates. lol

The critical bit, it seems to me, is what order you put your skates and shins/socks on. Right now I go shins, socks, skates, but I can see the value in maybe getting my skates on and getting them right before putting shins and socks on.

With the retail Edge socks I had this issue. My solution was cutting about a 2-2.5 inch slit up the rear seam. I would then cut off the elastic and the inch or so above the elastic that was tapered. This gave me enough room to slide the sock down my leg and over my shin guards while still fitting somewhat snug. The bottom would be a little loose, but I was taping around the bottoms anyway. As long as I was using the seams as a guide, there was minimal to no frey, either...

Then I got ahold of some pro stock Edge socks which require no alterations; the entire tapered portion at the bottom is made of lycra or spandex and has a lot of stretch to it. Unfortunately now I'm a bit of a sock snob.

I'll never understand you guys who can put your skates on before your pants. Even with zippered pants I've never been able to do that, and I don't even have big feet.

Wear jock short and undershirt to the rink.

Skate socks, left shin, right shin, left hockey sock, right hockey sock, pants, left skate, right skate, shoulder, left elbow, right elbow, jersey, mouthguard, helmet, gloves.

Probably less to do with foot size and more pant size. I wear an XLT pant that is fairly loose in the leg, and my skates fit through snugly, I imagine with a L pant they wouldn't.
