Does anyone else play these? I have been hooked on them the last week or so. For those unfamiliar, everyday they release a 3x3 grid with corresponding teams and stats. You have to name a player that correctly matches up with the categories.

now that doesn’t sound so bad does it? Wrong for here is the tricks:

1. You only get 9 guesses, that’s it. Screw up once and you can’t fill your grid.

2. They must have played at least 1 game for the teams and recorded that stat while with that team. I got tripped up on this one since Rondon hasn’t played a game for the Yankees yet.

3. For team and stat categories they must have recorded that season stat while on that team. For example, a couple days ago the categories were Oakland A’s and 200 hit season, Ricky Henderson would qualify separately for both, but not as an Oakland A.

4. Career stats can be done on any team so long as they have played for the required team. Example 300 wins and Detroit Tigers you could use Justin Verlander even though he wasn’t on Detroit.

5. You can only use that player once on your grid.

I have been norally getting about 6-7, but I have hit 3 immaculate grids so far.

I assume you've all seen the hockey one? Puckdoku

My baseball board started talking about the Immaculate Grid, and someone pointed out there was a hockey one. My response was "When it doubt, Mike Sillinger."

Couple guys laughed, and then a week later, dude replies "You're so right. Twice now I've been stumped and just guessed him and got it!"

Which led us to a ridiculous over-intellectual discussion of how many combos on a grid he'd work for. (66 of 496, only 13%).

But if you remember three facts, you can guess Sillinger and be right 42% of the time.

If you remember: He retired before SEA/VGK came into the league; and the only Canadian teams he played for were VAN/OTT; and the only California or New York-area teams (including Buffalo) he played for were ANA/NYI...

Then for any of the 496 team combos, you can know he doesn't work for 337; and will be right for 66 of the remaining 159.

The baseball ones have their own players as well with: Edwin Jackson (14 teams), Octavio Dotel (13 Teams), Rich Hill (12 teams), and Matt Stairs (12 teams). I also like to use Latroy Hawkins and Bartolo Colon (11 teams each).
