I'm sure I'm not alone. I've been shaking my head for most of the season wondering how are we doing so well with this lineup? I don't think our team improved that much from last season. I think our team is still way to small, and we still don't have any studs we can rely on in the clutch.

I know we added two great rookies who will serve us well for many years, but no one can really count on them to carry us NOW.

So who can carry us now? We do have decent forwards in Pleks, Max, and Ryder, but honestly, these guys aren't show stoppers. Then we have about 5 guys who are slightly below this first group, but not not really "that" good, but not that bad. They are just okay. (Bourque, Eller, DD, Gionta, and Prust).

Our bottom 4 are pretty bad if you ask me - Moan, White, Blunden, Halpern (except on faceoffs), Army. I doubt these guys collectively score 2 goals for the rest of the season and they bring no physicality and passion to the team.

On the defensive side we are way too small and only have one outstanding defender in PK. Markov is okay on the PP, but not that good 5-5. His minus 10 leads the Habs on defense.

And finally there is the enigmatic Carey. He has too many bad games to make me wonder if he could be counted on over the long haul. I'm sure no one would disagree with this - he is no Roy and Dryden (guys who stole many games for us).

So, is this two game losing streak about to be a lot more? Are the real Habs about to stand up? Will our lack of physicality finally catching up with us?

I'm concerned and now believe our playoff chances may be short-lived. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm usually pretty good at reading between the lines.

I welcome all rebuttals on any and all points, and look forward to good dialogue here.

Join the club. We aren't as good as our record.

bottom line

we were not a 15th place team last year , everything went wrong

this year we got our injured back , great contributions from our kids , and things went right , but we arent a first place team ...YET

this is a 48 game season take what u can get

the key is next year over 82 games , normally u see separation at the 50 game mark so this year anything goes for anyone

luckily other than DD we havent made many stupid bandaid moves like other clowns who ran this team or like Feaster who lost his fk en mind

Team can lose all games up to game 48 for all I care. All I want is them to be ready to play come playoff time. Do I demand results? Nah. I expect them to show up and be competitive though!

Either way, while I realize entering the playoffs on a good note is ideal I'm merely suggesting we have time to fix it. A slump is a slump, let's not make it worse than it is.

Remember the centennial season? I do. We were killer for 3 months, then lost a pivotal player in Lang which threw our balance out the window and the whole team lost confidence. Feels just like this with Emelin's injury replacing Lang's. Hope I'm wrong.

Emelin has been key for us.

I wish we had a gleason type. Gorges alone isn't enough.

It's absolutely over...we're going out in 4 or 5 games in round 1. Regardless of who we play. This is the team I figured we were entering the season and every wart is showing big time.

The Emelin injury was the end.

This, Emelin put fear into teams opposing forwards entering the zone. The intangibles he brought couldn't be felt until he went down. Now the people that were getting on him might realize losing him is hurting as he was used a lot 5 on 5 and penalty killing.

The way I see it, we have good rookies of Off and D, Great Coach and GM, cap heaven next summer. I waited for this situation for so long.

They crashed down to earth. And fanboys should stop being blind and realize what's happening.

Passengers/injuries: gionta, moen, dd, maxpac, price, diaz, emelin, armstrong. That caught up.

Why Bouillon? Wait... actually why Gionta?

God I hate Habs fans.

Bouillon makes stupid plays that KILLS the momentum (have a great cycle, take a low percentage shot from the point with no traffic, killing the cycle/momentum OR shooting on the defenceman when you have so much room and time).

Desharnais... self-explanatory.

Gionta was a great player, he's done.

And BTW, I'm not bandwagon, I've ALWAYS hated Bouillon. I wished for him to leave when he was first with the team, and I was ECSTATIC when he left. Bergevin resigning Bouillon is his worst decision ever as Habs GM.

Bad time to slump just before the playoffs. Would be a wasted season considering how great the draft is this year.

Who cares? Honestly, no matter what happens this season has been rewarding. Let's not worried about failure consolation prizes. They competed and were in many games. As of right now, they will be in the playoffs and have a chance, that's what I care about.

Oh the humanity
