You know... superstitions are starting to get to me.
I had to change my avatar around this time last season because Parise was in the background of it.
Now I have to change it again because Kovalchuk was in the background of it.

No more players for now ;)
(but lock up all your home goods and glasses, I guess)

The real question is...is your optimism still unwavering? I assume that glass is half full?

I honestly feel sick for you guys... Must be a gut wrenching feeling.

You've got the entire NHL cheering for you though, believe that.

first chance for me to get on here to post since the kovy news. and I don't think I really need to say anything that hasn't already been said. but IMO now isn't the time for lou to sign one of the remaining UFAs to a stupid contract. this is gonna hurt for a few years at least and he doesn't need to go crazy right now and wind up doing something he'll regret.

We will be waiting for about 4 years for that

To be honest, I'm still in the shock phase. Not sure what the guilt phase will be (I guess I could've rooted harder?) but depression stage will be a good one.

But if we get back to the hockey thing. How the hell do we replace a guy like Kovalchuk?

I don't buy the by committee thing, that will not work. It's about names now. Will we sign a replacement? Trade? What can we give up in trades? Wo do we target?

I'm just in shock still. Unbelievable.

Zach Parise on Kovy, "I was pretty shocked when I found out. It always seemed to me that he really liked playing in New Jersey.

See? I knew it.

Of course, Zach should be happy, too. He just made many Devils fans hate him just a bit LESS today.

The worst part about this all is how ever we are able to bounce back.. whether that be this year, next year or whatever.. the "what ifs" will always linger. "What if this team had Kovy" etc.

****ing sucks

You don't. You don't "replace" Kovalchuk. You don't replace top talent. You certainly don't do it in an afternoon. You grow new top talent.

Or you steal it from Vancouver, apparently.

We'll go sign Jagr or Brunner. Give Lou a week to think.
