Looks like he was extended today. 8 years between 11.5 and 12.

That's our new window I guess?

You're literally like one of 3 people that thinks this is a good deal. Do you really think that goalie that is average at best in the regular season is worth 11.5M even if you overrate his playoff performances which are blatantly doing. The guy is average to slightly above average in the regular season. He's sinking with the ship and not doing a damn thing to get them out of the free fall. And yet you're acting like he deserves 11.5M. It's a f***ing joke. He's not getting paid just for the playoffs.

LMFAO. Not getting paid just for the playoffs? Last time I checked you pay and retain players to win it all. Winning the cup is the endgame and the Rangers signing Igor says they still want to chase the endgame. Good decision to forgo a full rebuild? We'll see. :)

I'm not sure what you want?? You want him to take less, even when there are teams salivating for a goalie of his caliber. You want to get rid of him, save cap, and front load while the backend would continue to look like shit. Ask the Avs how that's going for them. You bitch when we lose because you think Igor's the problem, but would be glad to get rid of him AND LOSE ANYWAY.

Like.. what the f*** is your perfect plan here?

"Goalie of his caliber" is a media driven narrative. The guy is not anywhere near a top goalie in the league. And regular season matters are we're seeing now when he is playing as big of a part as anyone in knocking us out of playoff contention. And even if you don't believe that, well he's not doing shit to keep us afloat. Last two seasons it took until like March for him to play like a top goalie. He is Mika Zibanejad as a goalie. Goes into moody slumps. At some point those slumps will last seasons and he'll just be crap.

The regular season doesn't mean shit. Winning games is fine, but you just need to make the playoffs. To a lesser degree, it matters where you get placed. The gist of it is you're going to play a good team(s) regardless.

In the last few years his save % is enough to get us into the playoffs and keep us going in the playoffs. Hell, it was better than Bob's... but you know what Bob had that we didn't? Players that play in front of him and can score goals. Period. It's the same reoccurring theme every single year. Now we're just getting exploited because we can't score 4 PP goals every game and the defense in front of him collapses as soon as the puck is dropped.

You can't expect Igor to play perfect every single night and wait for this team to score goals in the 15th minute of the 3rd period.

Once again, Igor plays good enough for us to win BUT THE TEAM IN FRONT OF HIM IS THE PROBLEM. THE SYSTEM WE PLAY IS THE PROBLEM. VANISHING STARS IN THE PLAYOFFS ARE THE PROBLEM.

Seriously, what team have you been watching for the last several years to come to the conclusion that not only is Igor a mid goalie, but somewhat the source of our problems???

If you want to pay the Justin Williams of goalies 11.5M Ok. I don't. If he got paid 8 million for being good in the playoffs fine. And once again people completely just ignore that he gives up back breaking softies in the playoffs because they focus on high danger saves. The guy's abilities in high danger saves rival anyone including Hank. His slumps and softies however mean he'll never be a top of the league goalie.

You've got to stop bitching about softies when our shots against was the 3rd worst in the entire playoffs last year (and we made it 5 more games of the teams that were Top 10 in that category. And I don't need to tell you how that is trending for the start of this season.

It's unfair to ask him to "hold his own" when the man sees an average of 35+ shots every game when he's on the ice.

News flash: Higher shots against will eventually equate to the highest danger chances, and isn't he one of the goalies this season seeing the most high danger chances by far?? Can you imagine how we'd look like if we cut that stats down by 50%??? 25%???

Maybe it's just me but I think it's a f***ing dumb thing to say when we're hemmed in our zone all period, have 15 shots against in the period, our team has like 3, and he lets one in and we go... "What a softie!"

Statistically................................ you're going to have more goals scored against you regardless if it's high danger or not.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills having to explain shit like this.

He had the 44th best HDSV% last year among 71 goalies with 500+ mins
16th best this year among 36 goalies

So he's not exactly stopping them at some amazing rate the last couple of years.

I also don't think stopping high danger shots is necessarily the sign of the best goalies. The leaders over the last 3 years are Knight, Stolarzs, Samsonov, Brossoit, Varlamov. That's the top 5 in HDSV% since 2022-2023 among goalies who have played 1000+ minutes. I think it's more important to stop the low/medium danger stuff since the overall volume of it is so much higher it counts for more.

It's also the timing of those softies. See: game 5 against the Panthers and game 6 against the Lightning. And game 5 against the Panthers was one of his lighter workloads against that team. I think it's a bad sign mentally when a goalie gives up bad goals at crucial times and goes on very very long slumps every season. Kind of like how Mika's slumps to start seasons were a harbinger of things to come.
