After that brutal broadcast by Sportsnet (again) I will be complaining directly to them and would encourage anyone else who is frustrated with the awful coverage to do so as well.

This is a Canadian broadcast and we should be able to enjoy a "home" broadcast team. In reality, it's just the opposite and it simply ruined the joy of watching that game, as it has for many others this season.

While I kinda agree, this isn't TSN Jets where it is just for Manitoba and area.

It was Nationally televised and has to have some sort of non bias. I do not like Galley particularly either, it probably is like at the bottom or near the bottom of their broadcasting teams available.

Care less about their focus on the teams, and more about how crappy the broadcast was generally for playoffs. Want more connection to the game, fewer graphics and stat packs. It's not a ho-hum game in January.

Sportsnet will treat the Jets (who are broadcast on TSN) like a red headed stepchild. Deal with it, the Sportsnet voices make money on ratings. They ain't pumping the Jets tires until they can benefit from it.

The conviction with which that knucklehead thought the penalty on Lowry would be overturned after Perry's goal was called in was infuriating.

I wanted to punch the TV while he kept going on and on about the penalty being cancelled - he clearly didn't know the rules.

This.

I have always disliked Dave Randorf as a play-by-play guy because he seems to quote uninteresting stats and does not sound like he knows anything about the teams he is calling. Also, Gary Galley seemed to be extra annoying in this game. When he kept repeating that "the penalty was going to be eliminated", I could feel myself becoming more and more agitated.

They put big banner ads in the middle of the screen during the play.

On some of the SN broadcasts, they have a running banner at the bottom of the screen that cuts off vision of play along the near boards.

It's amateurish and annoying.

The announcers are terrible, including those between periods.

Randorf isn't good enough to do CHL hockey never mind the NHL, terrible voice, squeaky, excitable with lisp and marble mouthed voice.

The panel on the intermission features Damian Cox, enough said!

The game was in crystal clear HD, I saw every second of every play. The broadcast is the least of my concerns.

When I first read the thread, I assumed a large chunk of the city may have had an outage or something. Complaining that the crew seemed biased against Winnipeg is (to be frank) childish. Grow up. I don't need someone blowing rainbow smoke up my ass to feel good about myself.

If you're not happy with the product you're paying for, you have every right to complain.
Many people watching this game had the same complaint and if they want to make their views known, let them do it.
Who are you to call it childish? Look through the game day thread and you'll find pages of posts talking about the coverage. We weren't happy with the product and you were. So you do your thing and let those who weren't happy do theirs.

I watched the game at a bar and missed the commentary. Sounds like I dodged a bullet.

Getzlaf parents at home in Sask are Canadians too. I like Doug and Nick. I can't stand homer Darren.

A better way to deal with it, is to boycott Rogers products, and go with Bell or Telus. Let them know why you are boycotting too.

Having said that, i was lucky enough to watch the FOX feed, and it was 100x better. The announcers well on the ball, and even if they are the Ducks broadcast team, did a good job and were not too homerish.

So who is OUR home TV broadcast crew? Certainly not this crew. Oh ya, our crew have been benched for the post-season and we're stuck with what appears to a Ducks broadcast crew on a Canadian station.

Watch the TV and listen to Beyak on 1290. He sounds happy when the Ducks score but maybe he just likes seeing goals cause he likes hockey.

I'll be tuning into the Ducks broadcast next game, along with sending in a complaint to SN. Switched feeds to the Ducks for a while in the 3rd, and they were LESS homerish and better with their calls for the game in general. Pretty sad when the US broadcast team provides a more neutral commentary.

SN has been terrible all year, IMHO.

I'd take the crew last night any day over Dennis beyak which is obviously a very subjective topic. But to me most of the complaints about galley being a ducks cheer leader are completely ridiculous. Every time there's a national broadcast it seems people on theses boards complain about favouritism of the opposition. It grows tiring.

Yes, it's subjective. I would have preferred Beyak myself. In fact, I preferred the Ducks broadcast, which was much more 'level' in their calls.

But to me most of the complaints about galley being a ducks cheer leader are completely ridiculous.

I did a direct comparison last night of the SN broadcast, and the Ducks broadcast. The Ducks broadcast paid more attention to the Jets than SN did, which brings me to:

Every time there's a national broadcast it seems people on theses boards complain about favouritism of the opposition. It grows tiring.

When it's Canadian team vs. Canadian team, I expect the homerism to not favour the Jets. When it's a US team vs. the Jets? All I want is a call of the game, not cheerleading for the opposition.

Regarding the bolded: you can always click on the X and ignore the thread if it's tiresome.

:handclap::handclap:

Something so tiring that it infuses one with the energy to complain about it? That's like guys who call into the post-game show and ramble for 10 minutes, then say "but that's not what I wanted to talk about".

... but that's not what I wanted to talk about. :P

I saw the game on mute at a tavern. Also sounds like I dodged a bullet. At this point I'm really thinking it's gonna be just listening to it on 1290. Bayek is far from a homer -- as noted, he gets excited for both teams probably because he just really likes hockey. But from what I've seen about Galley? I mean, christ, there's "being a homer", then there's "being more biased than a tobacco industry health study"
