If you could only get rid of one of the following, who would it be?

I think at this point Neely and Sweeney are a package deal. Getting rid of only one of them does nothing. Both need to go.

But for sake of the poll, I vote Neely. Head of the snake needs to be cut off.

If you fire Neely, you might as well fire Sweeney and Julien.

I voted Sweeny due to the fact he was not the right choice anyways, plus we had a questionable defense last year and Sweeney actually went out and made it worse for this year.

this front office needs one unified philosophy. In my opinion the biggest mistake neely made was keeping julien after last year and i think that had something to do with jacobs not wanting to pay claude and a new coach. I assume neely and sweeney are on the same page but i never bought into claude changing his ways to work with them.

i give neely and sweeney one more year with their coach to see what happens.

the new coach needs to commit to developing young players. We should have seen more of morrow and c.miller this year. we should have seen more of vatrano this year.

I don't know who to pick honestly.

Neely if he's doing more than just being a figure head, his credentials for hockey operations seem misleading at best.
Sweeney if he's not even allowed to go the direction he wants, no reason to keep a puppet GM.
Julien if we start going with a youth movement, I'd like some fresh eyes on this team.

I can't see firing Sweeney after 1 year. It's going to take a while to turn this thing around. In 1 year he was able to restock the prospect cupboard, and create much needed cap space after being blindsided by Hamilton's refusal to sign in Boston.

Sweeney has a lot of chips that he can move. I'd give him at least another season to see what he can do.

I agree.

Nothing changed here until they brought in people (Chiarelli and Julien) who WEREN'T slaves to the "Bruins culture".

Are you another one who lived through the bread and circuses of Sweeney's playing days?

I have to admit, in the back of my mind Jimmy Hayes becomes Sandy Moger without much squinting.

Is this staff here to bring the Bruins back to being a business, tossing out interesting hot garbage with fanfare only to expect to die in a meager playoff trot?

Neely for certain. People can say Claude cannot adapt to the new NHL, but from what I've seen Neely is the one who should take the fall if anyone deserves to take the fall. Lots of lip service to tougher this and tougher that. Well, the Bs have failed to get tougher and they traded away good talent with crap for return in the long run.

Dude, you're trying way too hard.

Before the draft we should unload some players and load up on high round picks
How about.....

To St. Louis
Hayes
Subban
Morrow

To Boston
Shattenkirk

&

To Edmonton
Debrusk
Chara
Koko
#14 pick 2016

To Boston
Yakapov
#3-4 pick 2016 (Puljajarvi)

(...)

You're a dreamer, aren't you?

I really, really should not listen to Toronto sports radio but the latest 'rumor' is the Bruins have asked for permission from Calgary to speak to

Neely. What exactly does he do? Cause it doesn't seem like much. He's just a yes-man

Cam was hired by Charlie to work the corporate crowd - Chia had last say in hockey ops. Now Cam has a say - perhaps the final say - but he has no track record of evaluating talent.

Replacing Neely with Burke would be 'interesting'

He was also intended to be the "face" of management. Jacobs The Elder and Jacobs The Younger likely figured that since the fandom hates the Jacobs family; why not bring in someone the fans love to be their mouthpiece. Kind of like how in that episode of The Simpsons where Mr. Jacobs - I mean Mr. Burns - sold the power plant to a German concern and the new German management team brought in a Sgt. Shultz doppelganger to be their liaison to the workers? Friendly, beloved, and non-hostile? Jacobs kind of did the same thing. And it worked. For a while.

I love Cam Neely. Hall of Famer. True Bruin in every sense of the word. But sometimes I wonder if he's a little overwhelmed by the job. He's the number three man in the Bruins organization after the Old Man and Chuckie, right? That's a LOT of responsibility. Neely never coached (to my knowledge) and I have no idea what his qualifications are for the job other than being someone the fans aren't likely lynch if they had the chance. (You'll notice that Jeremy and Charlie almost never rear their heads in Boston; and how much Jeremy Jacobs actually looks like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons!)

Brian Burke, eh? Not sure how I would feel about that...

I am indeed.

I don't know. Depends on what role he'd be taking.

The collective minds of Sinden, Neely, Sweeney, and JFJ

Or Burke and Nonis (cause you know he'd be coming if Burke was Pres. and GM).

Tough call.

Is this a real rumor or a caller on talk radio in Canada? I've chalked it up as wishful thinking but part of me has thought maybe just maybe they haven't canned Claude cause bigger changes are being contemplated. He might stay as a figurehead but Brian Burke ain't coming here to take orders from seabass.

Burke is a bright guy and good hockey man. He effed up in Toronto (much to our benefit in Boston) cause he got impatient and deserved to be fired. But overall a gooood hockey man and certainly one who loves big tough bruin style hockey. Probably a pipe dream but I'd take Brian Burke over seabass any day of the week.

Burke made a number of errors in judgement during his time in TO. And the sale of the team to Bell/Rogers during his tenure accelerated his exit.

He:

1) Overrated his D coming into the 2009-10 season which led to:

2) The Kessel trade

3) Placing faith in James Reimer as a legit No.1

4) Hanging onto his buddy Wilson too long

But you look at the trades he made minus the Kessel deal, and he came out ahead on a lot of them.

Lupul and Gardner from Anaheim

Franson from Nashville

Phaneuf from Calgary

JVR from Philadelphia

Colbourne and a 1st + 2nd from Boston

Versteeg from Chicago

He even got a 2nd rounder for Jimmy Hayes...lol

He might have his flaws but he's very good at trading IMO.

Can we just fire Chiarelli again? Seguin... Boychuk... etc

this.

im laughing all the way through this thread. This was PCs mess and we already ditched him. It takes a year or so to clean stuff up.

and ffs, HF get over the Seguin trade. :help:
